I had me treatment at the Bristol Cribbs Causeway clinic back in March. My eyesight was apalling and I was very nervous before surgery. My surgeon was Mr Tom Matterman and I can honestly say that the chap is a genius. From start to finish I felt really well looked after and more importantly safe! The surgery took all of ten minutes for both eyes and I could see pretty well directly afterwards. My sight is still improving and I am due to go back for another examination in a couple of weeks. No halo's, no pain and great vision. If you are thinking of having surgery done please don't hesitate. Optical Express rocks! I found the initial consultation a little 'salesy' but was expecting that. Staff were all very helpful and knowledgeable though. Had my treatment in Glasgow on 27th June. Arrived at 10am and was all done by 10:45. Staff were really nice and reassuring. Treatment wasn't pleasant but wasn't painful and was at least over very quickly! My vision was very cloudy after the procedure and I found it very hard to keep my eyes open - came home and slept for an hour and when i woke up my vision was great and by later that night was as good as it was with glasses. Gets better everyday - my eyes are very dry but drops work great. Feels a bit like I've had my contacts in for too long sometimes - then i remember I don't have any in!! Wish I had done it years ago - so glad I had it done - although its taking a while to sink in that i won't need my glasses/lenses ever again!

I haven't had a treatment with optical express but I had a terrible experience with them after a free consultation, and learnt my lesson. Nothing is free! I told this really nice and friendly person who assisted me there that I had financial problems and had to think about the best option. She said that I should pay £200 deposit in order not to lose the possible given surgery date. This was on 2nd June. And she said if I changed my mind in three days they would give the money back. Then I had to cancel the appointment for the surgery and asked for a refund. Today is 30th June and since then I have been trying to get the money back, and still haven't. They keep referring me to the head office, this office that office. It was a complete waste of time. So, if you get to have a consultation with those guys, I would recommend you not to give any money until you are sure.

17/06/09 is the day I had my surgery @ Trafford centre, and boy what an experience! All my 15years grievances thanks to my short-sightedness were over in a matter of 30mins! Awesome experience... The technology, the hospitality, Dr Qazi, the extra friendly optical express stuff (i suspect they're always high on something tho esp. @ Trafford centre, lol!), oh and not forgetting the free coffee! I had my surgery approx 2 months ago, I still cannot not believe the result , amazing! Better than 20.20 vision. Initially the wait prior to the operation was too long,really . However once with the surgeon and his team, the procedure went very well and quickly. This was quite an unnerving experience, the team were very reassuring during the procedure, which put my mind at ease. Afterwards,my eyes were very sore and stung for several hours afterwards, resting was difficult. Later that day, when my eyes had settled I could see that my sight was certainly improved, the next day I was euphoric as I could see, so unbelievable! They have continued to improve as time goes by, absolutely fantastic! I would thoroughly recommend anyone to at least have the initial consultation, to assess if they are suitable. If so don't hesitate, brilliant.

My experience is a bit of a mix bag with Optical express. Having said that having laser surgery is one of the best things I have ever done! I had my surgery 4 days ago and apart from a little dryness and tenderness I can see absolutely fine no problems whatsoever. My initial consultation at Meadowhall was a little disappointing. I felt that there was an emphasis on "selling" the treatment, it was almost like buying a car in some respects. I didn't decide to go ahead with the treament on that day, I needed to think about the cost a bit more. As a result, I received phone calls from both the shop and head office regarding the treatment. I finally decided to go ahead. I found the actual laser treatment quite an unpleasant experience but not necessarily painful. Worse than I thought though! However, the surgeon and surgerical team were absolutely fantastic - first class!!! Couldn't fault them. They were very supportive and reassuring. It lasted for all of 10 minutes, so easily bearable even for the faint hearted like myself. The hours after treament were bearable but again not very pleasant. I had streaming and stinging eyes for hours afterwards. I couldn't physically open my eyes for a good few hours afterwards. I had my treatment at 11.30 and by tea time I still had blurred vision and very heavy eyes but I was able to open my eyes a little. Slept absolutely fine that night and the day after was remarkable. No pain and excellent vision. My eyes still get tired quickly especially after watching TV and working on the computer. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is 100% sure that they want to do this. The surgical team at Optical Express Meadowhall were fantastic and I would highly recommend anyone to go there just on the basis of that as it's critical for something like this.
