Before surgery my vision was -8 and therefore I couldn’t read a book, or see facial expressions etc without using my glasses. I would definitely recommend Centre for Sight. I’d dwelt on surgery for 10 years since my initial ...Read more

1. Review of Centre for Sight Clinic

Centre for Sight is a long-standing and renowned eye surgery clinic, with three practices in London, Surrey and West Sussex. Its leading consultant eye surgeon, Mr Sheraz Daya, founded the clinic way back in 1996 with a clear mission: provide exemplary eye care to patients in facilities that are purpose-built with their needs in mind.

What makes Centre for Sight different? Centre for Sight is based on Mr Daya’s vision that better surroundings can provide a higher standard of care. Today patients get to enjoy a spa-like or luxury hotel experience, rather than the dread of most hospital surgeries.

Is there anything else I should know? As you’d expect then, this clinic also comes with the price tag that accompanies a five-star experience. Yes, the facilities are kitted out with high-end diagnostic tech and quality lenses, backed up by a team of highly trained staff. But you leave all the fancy atmosphere behind the moment you step outside the clinic, and it won’t be a priority for everyone.

2. Centre for Sight Treatments

Centre for Sight has expertise in all the major eye treatments, from LASIK to lens replacement surgery, and implantable contact lenses. Here are some of the most popular surgeries:

  1. LASIK / IntraLASIK laser eye surgery
  2. Laser and non-laser lens replacement
  3. Implantable contact lenses (ICL surgery)
  4. Laser cataract surgery
  5. Corneal grafts
  6. Keratoconus

To find out which procedure would work best for your unique eye prescription, always talk to a qualified ophthalmologist. As with all leading clinics, Centre for Sight provides initial consultations where you can talk to a specialised eye consultant, and understand the risks and options available to you.

3. Centre for Sight Prices

On average, 723 patients told Lasik Eyes they paid between £2,400 and £3,615 per eye for laser eye and lens replacement surgery at Centre for Sight since 2002. These costs are slightly above the average price range of £1,789 and £3,152 – high street clinics such as Optical Express and Ultralase were the cheapest places we found.

Here are the fixed costs of eye surgery at Centre for Sight:

  • Laser eye surgery cost: £2,300 per eye (from £77 per month)
  • IntraLASIK Supracor cost: £2,575 per eye (from £86 per month)
  • Implantable contact lens cost: £2,975 per eye (from £85 per month)
  • Implantable contact lens cost (toric lenses): £3,450 per eye (from £93 per month)
  • Cataract surgery cost (monofocal): £2,975 – £3,575 per eye (from £94 per month)
  • Cataract surgery cost (multifocal): £2,975 – £3,575 per eye (from £94 per month)

Your costs will include: a free consultation (for laser surgery), the full cost of the procedure, a 24-hour service line, and aftercare for one year after treatment. Laser eye surgery consultations are free, but lens replacement surgery assessments cost £295.

Centre for Sight also provides interest free pay monthly finance options over a generous 24 months – with some clinics, you’ll be paying 11% APR after the first year. As with most clinics, there’s a deposit of £500 to secure the surgery, but this cost comes off the total cost.

Immediate improvement in vision both near and distant. Need for spectacles eliminated.

Had my Lasik surgery done on Saturday 17th January at the Centre of Sight by Mr Daya. I was assessed on the Thursday, and had already decided if I was suitable that I would go ahead. After extensive tests I was seen by Mr Daya who said my eyes were ideal for treatment. After having to wear glasses for a couple of weeks (as you have to rest your eyes from contact lenses) I wanted to go ahead asap and so was given a date 2 days later. I was short sighted (-4.75 and -3.50). I was extremely apprehensive, but everyone put you at ease and having a mild sedative helped (even though mine was forgotten about until 10 minutes before). The procedure is daunting, but certainly not painful. The second eye is better because you know more what to expect. As soon as I sat up I could see across the room and apart from a blurriness from all the drops my vision was already clearer. I spent the next 24 hours with my goggles on and eyes shut (as instructed). When the goggles came off the next day it was absolutely wonderful to see so clearly. At my check up the following morning I had 20/20 vision - excellent result!!! I only wish I had plucked up courage sooner. I will need glasses to read, unfortunately I am at the age where I was already having to use reading glasses on top of my contact lenses to read small print. I'm managing my computer work OK without glasses and this should improve as my eyes settle over the next few days. Everyone has to weigh up the options and risks for themselves, but I am so happy to have the decision, and having such an excellent outcome.

After reading the various ratings and comments posted at this website for the Centre for Sight, I decided to book myself in for a consultation and for the surgery the following day, provided that I proved to be suitable. (16-01-04) The initial consultation was at the clinic located on Queen Anne Street in London. My initial impressions were that the staff were excellent and that the premises were clean, well decorated and welcoming. During this initial day, I met with Mr Daya and found him to be very helpful and professional. The results of the consultation were positive and i was clear to go for the surgery the next day. Following the consultation, it had been decided that as well as the regular Wavefront Laser Eye Surgery, I would be a good candidate for the Zyoptix laser treatment also. This was to help correct problems I was having with my night vision due to a lack of clarity and the halo effect that I would get around lights at night, around car headlights for example. (17-01-04) The surgery took place at the Queen Victoria Hospital at East Grinstead. From the time of arrival at the hospital to the actual time of surgery, it does take a bit of time and any people accompanying the patient should bring a book and be prepared to wait. For the patient the time is needed for preparations and seems to pass quickly. The actual surgery is not painful but i would describe it as uncomfortable. I know this sound ambiguous but it really doesn’t hurt. The procedure seems relatively quick and only takes about 45 minutes. It is apparently quicker without Zyoptix. After the surgery there is some soreness but this isn’t unbearable and fades within an hour, after which there is an initial post-op eye check. Don’t necessarily expect miracles at this stage but there are noticeable results! You are advised to try and keep your eyes closed for a few hours after the surgery so you will need some company. My Dad accompanied me and when trying to find our coach home from Victoria Station in London, only roughly 2-3 hours after surgery, I was able to peek occasionally and notice the improvement in clarity and my range of vision such as signs were in focus and I spotted the coach first! Also, on the coach I could already see very positive results regarding my night vision as it was dark by this stage and occasional glances showed a marked improvement in night vision clarity and a reduction in the halo effect. Within a week my vision was re-checked at the Centre for Sight and was confirmed to be 20/15 in both eyes!! The results are everything I could have hoped for and probably more. Everything seems so much more detailed and now night driving, which used to be quite daunting, is no problem. I had another check at the Centre on Friday (20-02-04) and was confirmed to be 20/15 in my left eye but had improved to 20/10 in the other. I would definitely recommend the Centre for Sight to anyone who cares enough about their eyes to try and get the best treatment available.

I had worn glasses since the age of 11, could not tolerate contact lenses, yet found more and more that glasses got in the way of me doing the things I wanted to. As a GP, I was aware of the benefits but also the possible problems associated with surgery, so I thought hard and chose carefully. The Centre for Sight's reputation is good, and my experience was first rate. I had confidence from the start; all the staff (medical, nursing and technical) were trained to the highest standard and put me at ease. The results are, quite simply, marvellous! I can see better than I did with glasses, I can drive at night without seeing haloes, and can do my hobbies unencumbered (although my old specs have been replaced by reading glasses). I can recommend both the procedure and the Centre for Sight. And please recycle your old specs to charity.

Mr. Daya was recommended to me by my GP who advised that he had the best reputation for Lasik surgery. I had -2.5 in each eye with a mild astigmatism prior to surgery and was deemed suitable for Zyoptix/Wavefront treatment. The surgery was uncomfortable but not painful and the recovery time was remarkable. Within hours of surgery I had perfect vision and now several weeks after surgery have 6/4 vision (two lines better than 20/20). A truly liberating experience which I would recommend to anyone. Mr. Daya and his team are a class act.

I’ve been wearing glasses since I was about 7 and contacts since I was 16. For me glasses and contact lenses have been the bain of my life. Wearing contacts dried my eyes out and wearing glasses put pressure behind my ears. By the end of the day I would either have very tired dry eyes or a sore head! I'm now 25 and had had enough! So when all this new laser surgery came in I suggested it to my father. My father is a GP but used to specialise in Ophthalmology, so was versed in these developments. Being the worrying parent as well as a doctor, he wanted to make sure that we went to the right place and had the surgery done by the best person. I asked several of my friends, who had already had the treatment, where they had it done and investigated the various places. One of my friends highly recommended the ‘Centre for Sight’ at East Grinstead. I suggested this to my father who made his own investigations. After speaking to some other doctors, we agreed to go to the Centre for Sight for a consultation. I had a consultation on a Thursday, where I had a series of tests conducted on my eyes which took several hours. I later discovered why it took so long. The Centre for Sight is one of the few places that use Zyoptix Lasik to correct short sightedness. This technology has been around for about 3 years and has seen better results than normal Lasik. As explained by Dr Daya, the huge number of tests were necessary just in case I wanted Zyoptix rather than normal Lasik. I booked in to have the surgery the following Saturday. The surgery isn’t painful at all as you are given a sedative beforehand and takes only five minutes for both eyes. I would describe it as uncomfortable rather than painful but for a whole five minutes I was prepared to put up with it. Dr Daya actually conducted the surgery himself which instilled me with confidence. Dr Daya has been in this profession for around 10-15 years. The nurses were absolutely wonderful, caring and very patient. There is always someone on hand to help you after the surgery as you’re eyes are very sensitive for a couple of hours after the treatment. I can’t fault the nurses one bit. I went home and went straight to sleep for several hours. It’s very tempting to use your new eyes when you get home as you’re eyes have become accustomed to light again. It’s also important to use your drops religiously afterwards as well. By the following day, my eyes were fine and I was having a drink with a few friends the next day as if nothing had happened. I went for a check-up the following Monday and was declared to have perfect vision. It was a tremendously satisfying feeling to place my glasses into the bin which eventually goes to 3rd world countries. I have booked in for an appointment in a month’s time for a further check-up. Centre for Sight aren’t cheap but after going for the consultation, I had decided this was definitely the place as it was safe and hygienic and the staff are fantastic. I just didn’t like the idea of doing it in our local Boots store. Just make sure your eyes have been stable for at least 2 years otherwise you will be cheating yourself, make sure you use drops religiously afterwards and definitely make sure you go to sleep as soon as you get home from the surgery. I would definitely recommend taking a few days of just to be on the safe side. I took about 3 days off and I’m glad I did to allow myself to get used to my new eyes. Hope this helps. Ash Sripuram

Superb.

It is now thirteen months since my initial surgery and I thought it appropriate to give a longer term opinion. My (sometimes lengthy!) previous posts detail the initial surgery and problems I experienced but I am pleased to say that my opinion of CFS and Mr Daya in particular have not changed. He has provided an exceptional level of care, along with his team, and has produced excellent results (Both eyes now 6/4). Whether contact by phone or email I have always had swift responses to queries and worries, as recently as yesterday I had another query answered, and this level of after care shows the commitment that Mr Daya and CFS continually show. My grateful thanks to all at CFS, I will certainly recommend them without hesitation. If anyone wishes to discuss the problems I had and CFS as an option please feel free to email me direct from the link on this post.

I had laser surgery in March this year, after years of considering it and reading up about it, I finally took the plunge. No regrets!!!I went from -10 to perfect vision!!! I wish I had done it earlier. I do feel I have total freedom now. I am thankful thatI found the best surgeon around. Thank you Mr Daya.

It's almost 2 months now since I went from -10.5 in both eyes to 20:20 vision with centre for sight. The feeling of sheer delight when I open my eyes in the morning and see clearly has yet to fade. I was a very nervous patient and having to attend the clinic alone, while hubby dealt with 3 under fives made that worse. However, the staff went above and beyond the call of duty to look after me. I was treated like an old friend not a patient and was guided through the procedure with care. Many thanks to those who helped. Mr Daya did a wonderful job as you would expect from such an excellent eye surgeon. He was highly recommended to me by a family eye surgeon so I knew I was in good hands from the start. Because of my high prescription, wavefront was the favoured treatment for me as in my case it took away less corneal tissue. Although bad news for the wallet ;-), it's been excellent news on the night vision front. Post surgery my night vision has improved. I still get some glare from lights but it's very defined rather than starburst and there's no halo-ing at all. Much better and far less distracting when driving. I now look forward to a lifetime without myopia. Reading glasses will come in time I guess but not just yet and I don't miss my glasses or contact lenses at all, funnily enough. I cannot recommend centre for sight enough. Their care and attention to detail will keep them as one of the country's leading centres for a long time. Take the plunge, it's magic. :-))))))

I had me vision corrected in March this year by Mr Giledi using the Zyoptix method. I work as a midwifery lecturer and have always been very sceptical of new medical interventions. The decision to go for the surgery did not come lightly and followed many years of debate and reviewing the research in this area. Eventually I decided the time was right and sort to find the best possible place to have the treatment done. The centre for sight came out as clear favourite in spite of their charges being higher than some clinics. I was extremely impressed with the care I received which was of an extremely high standard both during consultations and the procedure itself. I found the procedure itself quite traumatic but this was predominantly due to the fact that I was extremely nervous about the surgery. In fairness it was quite painless and over very quickly. I am absolutely delighted with the results and have been told I now have better than perfect vision! Certainly my vision is equal if not better than it ever was with contact lenses or glasses and my night vision is much improved. I can thoroughly recommend the treatment, which has had a huge impact on my life.
