1. Review of AccuVision Laser Eye Clinic

Established in 2001, AccuVision is a popular destination for people seeking quality, affordable laser eye surgery. This clinic currently operates in five cities nationwide: London, Birmingham, Leeds, Bristol and Newcastle, and has performed over 40,000 treatments and counting.

What did independent inspectors find? According to the CQC’s latest report, there were no complaints between August 2016 and September 2017 from 1,011 refractive eye procedures carried out at AccuVision.

Is there anything else I should know? Most of the eye surgeons on our site enjoy five-star ratings, and the same is true for AccuVision. But it’s worth noting we only have 10 reviews for Dr Prashant Jindal.

Patients always want to find an ophthalmologist they feel comfortable with. That’s why it’s always a good idea to do your own research by trying to meet with your surgeon at an initial consultation, and many clinics offer these for free.

2. AccuVision Treatments

As well as common laser vision correction treatments – such as LASEK and LASIK with ultra-accurate Wavefront diagnostics – AccuVision also offers lens replacement surgery, including the UK’s most common surgical procedure: cataract surgery.

  1. LASIK eye surgery
  2. Trans-Epithelial Surface Treatment
  3. Lens replacement surgery
  4. ICL surgery (implantable contact lenses)
  5. Cataract surgery
  6. Amblyopia (lazy eye treatment)

So is it safe? AccuVision promises highly sophisticated, automated devices, with world-class Wavefront technology and the Alcon WaveLight EX500 Excimer laser. According to the clinic’s own study of 500 patients, everyone achieved at least driving standard vision following surgery (including repeat surgery).

3. AccuVision Laser Eye Clinic Prices

AccuVision’s prices are reasonable rates in laser eye surgery. On average, 800 patients told Lasik Eyes they paid £1,200 (per eye) for laser eye surgery, and £3,615 (per eye) for lens replacement surgery (including cataract surgery) – few clinics have lower starting prices.

AccuVision doesn’t publish a fixed price list, but here are the costs you can expect for the most popular eye surgeries:

  • Consultation Price: Free for initial consultation
  • LASIK Price: Average cost £2,400 for both eyes
  • Trans-Epi Price: Average cost £2,400 for both eyes
  • C3R Treatment Price: Average cost £2,000 per eye

Here’s how these prices compare to the eye surgery quotes offered by other clinics:

TreatmentOptical Express Cost (per eye)Optegra Cost (per eye)Optimax Cost (per eye)Centre for Sight Cost (per eye)
LASIK / LASEKFrom £595£1,795£1,695£2,400
Cataract SurgeryFrom £3,195£2,495£2,995From £3,150
ICL SurgeryFrom £3,395£3,495£2,495£3,615

Eye surgery isn’t an insignificant cost for most people. That’s why AccuVision offers a 10 month finance option, which lets you spread the costs of surgery after the initial deposit into smaller monthly fees. You will need to pass a credit check with Hitachi Capital to gain approval for this payment plan.

That said, most clinics provide finance plans for much longer – up to three years, and also team up with health insurers who may cover at least some of the costs of the surgery (which AccuVision doesn’t).

Can’t see my old review on here, but I had the treatment at Accuvision 9 years ago and still have 20/20 vision. Seriously worth doing. Don’t go for the cheapest option, you only have one pair of eyes. Save up and go for the best. Had friends finally have the operation, universal response is ‘should have done it years ago’. Huge amounts of both time and money saved since then in putting in/taking out and cleaning lenses, buying them, glasses, cleaning fluids, opticians appointments etc.

Having +4.5 & +5.5 I never thought I would be able to have my vision corrected. I also had astigmatism in both eyes.I must say it is just amazing waking up and not having to reach for the glasses. Having worn glasses since I was 3 years old It took a while to stop trying to push the non existing glasses back up my nose. I'm now 47 and had the surgery nearly 18 months ago and have just bought a £10 pair of reading glasses to keep at work for reading very small text. But this was explained to be before the surgery that in my case and age reading glasses were only a couple of years away. In my case it took 6-8 months to lose the halos around lights, that is now gone completely. You must remember that it can takes weeks to really settle down to get you final result. Just don't panic. My prescription was quite high so the 1st month was a bit up and down. I say go for it, the team is very re-assuring and don't give you any unrealistic expectations.

I started to wear glasses at age 7. I moved onto wearing contact lenses only from age 16 to age 37. My contact prescription was -6 and -6.5 with some astigmatism. I had wanted to get my eyes lasered since I first heard about it around age 20. Contacts/glasses had always got in the way when I played sport. For the last few years I had been aware of Accuvision and the excellent feedback from customers. I had excellent vision wearing contacts and my hesitancy on having the operation was due to my strong prescription and there being a small chance of not quite getting 20/20 vision after the operation. I was also very wary of having a flap on my eyeball that may be a weak point on my eye if my eye ever received a knock. I had almost resigned myself to having the flap operation, then sometime last year I became aware of the Trans-epi treatment at Accuvision. I ramped up my research again and basically decided I wanted it done and I wanted Accuvision in London specifically Chad Rostron to do it. I was 80% certain I wanted the trans epi treatment but I wanted to hear Accuvision's advice. You have to wear glasses for 7 days before the consultation so I booked in for the consultation and treatment on the same day simply because I did not want to wear glasses for any longer than necessary! So on the 6th March 2009 I went for my consultation and Accuvision advised I was suitable for either the flap operation or Trans-epi. I choose Trans-epi simply because I could not bear the thought of having a potential weak spot on my eye where the flap had been created. The operation was done by Chad Rostron and now 4.5 months later I have 20/15 vision in my left eye and 20/20 in my right eye. It's absolutely amazing to not wear contacts anymore and also not have the worry of a flap weak spot on my eye. I would suggest to not have the consultation and operation on the same day, as on surgery days they are very busy and my consultation felt slightly rushed. When I had my check ups after the surgery it all seemed more relaxed as it was not a surgery day. For 24 hours after the operation my eyes were very sore and I could not open them, just to use the drops every hour. By day 3 I could open them ok but it was day 7 before they felt fine. I would suggest 10 days off work. My eyesight then settled down but was variable over the next 6 weeks, and very sensitive to bright light. By month 4 they were in my mind perfect and this was backed up by my check-up last week. Overall incredible! Thanks Accuvision!

I had my surgery on 11/07/09. I had been wearing glasses for over 20 years for astigmatism - prescription: Right eye cylinder -4.25 axis 8.0. Left eye - cylinder -4.25 axis 175. I had also had to wear varifocals because reading had becoming difficult The consultation was easy and the staff were very helpful but most importantly there was no pressure selling unlike other companies. I was told that I could also have 'monovision' that meant that I would not need to wear reading glasses. The total cost was £2300. The surgery - this was uncomfortable rather than painful and the whole process lasted no more than a couple of minutes for each eye. The worst part for me was having to wear clear contact lenses for 24 hrs as I had never worn lenses before. Post surgery - I had to go back to work on 13/07/09 - we had an Ofsted inspection on the 14/07/09! My eyes were sore and distance vision was not brilliant but your vision fluctuates anyway. They had warned me about this. I returned after a week for my check up and my distance vision was 20/20 and I could read smallest print on the test sheet easily. I still have slight fluctuations with my sight but this is becoming less and less - just as Accuvision said that it would. I would have no hesitation in recommending Accuvision. Just go for it - brilliant.

It's just over 7 years since I had my vision corrected. No problems, no halos, good night-time vision. Everyone was extremely professional, courteous, patient etc. (I had been for a consultation somewhere else, previously, what a difference...) Not a day goes past that I'm not aware of how wonderful it is to have such good sight after years of wearing thick glasses/ contact lenses. Probably the best money we've ever spent. A big thank you to everyone at Accuvision.

I found out I had advanced Keratoconus and was refused by other clinics for treatment. That is when I came to Accuvision . As soon I as walked in I felt comfortable and they made me feel like family. They are honest and very clear and explain everything thats going to happen before during and after treatment. Thanks guys for helping me see more clearly!

After a life time of wearing glasses I decided to have Laser treatment. Six weeks ago I had the operation. It has totally changed my life for the better as I now have 20/20 vision and am much more aware of what is happening around me. My confidence level has gone up as well because of this. The consultation is thorough and I felt that the best choice of treatment was recommended. And I do need to highlight that the aftercare is fantastic - as I particularly found out when needing to contact them for some emergency advice at 2am (!) and a helpful consultant picked up the phone and talked to me. The staff are wonderful and very professional. I certainly am recommending Accuvision to anybody who would like to experience this modern miracle called 'eye sight correction'.

Having laser eye surgery on my eyes was something that felt inevitable to me at some point in my life. After having completed my degree at uni in May this year, I felt I had to take the opportunity and start looking for a clinic. I read lots of forums online and everywhere Accuvision came on top in terms of price, technology and best surgeons. What I personally like about Accuvision is that there are only 3 clinics in the country, therefore there are only a handful of surgeons carrying out all the surgeries. So very experienced. I had my consultation with Mrs ??? Griffiths at the Fulham branch. She was very nice and professional, with a constant smile on her face. My sight was not too bad at -3.00 and -3.75 and I was given a quote of £1900. Following this I was given a handout with the 2 surgeons CVs which was very reassuring, being able to read about their careers and I opted for Chad Roston who is the most experienced (although both were more than good enough). I was worried about sideffects as my pupils are slightly bigger than normal but the operation went really well, less than 10 minutes, having said that it was probably the longest 10 minutes of my life. It was not painful at all, only uncomfortable and slightly irritating at times as you feel the need to blink but can't. The following 24 hours were a drag, I tried to keep my eyes shut as much as possible. Check up next day and my sight was not 100% perfect but spot on target. The next few days, I suffered from blurriness on my left eye which is absolutely normal. That went away within the next 48 hours and my sight has been better than 100% since. It feels amazing, as if I've never had weak eyes. The only critique I have is one of the receptionist is impatient and slightly rude. I'm a very easygoing person but felt even with the few questions I had on the phone, she was very short coming and definitely lacked a smile in her voice. I understand she has to answer the same questions day in day out but it is a big deal for us who are having the operation so absolutely necessary. Furthermore, I booked my operation just over a week before the actual day however I didn't receive my information pack until 2 days before the day of the surgery. But for the things that really matter including the ophthalmologists, surgeons, technology and price they get a 5 from me as they ticked every box. I would definitely recommend this clinic. In fact my sister is the next one to get her eyes done and she's going for Accuvision too.

I've wanted to have laser eye surgery for a few years now and finally decided that now was the right time for career purposes, but wanted only to go to a reputable surgeon who didn't cost the earth-someone who I could rely on to do the job with as little risk attached as possible. I originally went to another large company and had their free consultation locally, but owing to having only just been referred to the eye hospital the day before by my optician (to investigate apparent ocular hypertension) I was turned down and told to come back when it had been done (rather cold-heartedly in my opinion, and I just didn't get a good feeling about them, AND they were very expensive). It turns out having visited the eye hospital that the reason I have higher eye pressures was due to higher corneal thickness which always usually gives a higher eye pressure reading than anyone elese and that this would make me an ideal candidate for laser eye surgery! Luckily my eyes were also healthy with no disease present. I then decided to do my research straight away and seek out the very best surgeon who had lots of experience in laser eye surgery, was an NHS consultant, as well as being a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and also a Fellow of the Royal College of Opthalmologists and came up with Mr Chad Rostron of Accuvision. Having delved even further into Chad's career I could see that he was also attached to the Moorfields Eye Hospital in London as well as many other highly reputable eye hospitals and had published lots of research in the form of corneal surgery. This impressed me immensely. I then boooked up the free consultation at their Solihull branch where I was lucky enough to have it done by Mr Nick Dash Accuvision Clinic Manager who himself is a leading Opthalmologist and has an extensive career treating some of the countrys national sports teams. He is also a very nice man and a pleasure to meet who will put you at ease straight away. Their clinic is Solihull by the way is very good and I was seen dead on time with no major waiting time. Nick told me the good news in that I was an ideal candidate for the surgery and he even told me things about my contact lense over use that my own optician had never picked up in over 24yrs of use including the presence of an astigmatism in one of my eyes that I couldn't believe had never been picked up by my optician which Accuvision could successfully treat with its Wavefront Technology. Nick actually showed me the topograghy of my eye on his laptop (this is a 3D picture of the eye which shows steepness and uniformity of the surface), which proves what he was saying. Now I was sent away after this free consultation in a very positive frame of mind and given no sales pressure to book up the surgery. It was left entirely in my own lap, so to speak. I got home and it didn't take me long to decide to pick up the phone and have the surgery done. Accuvision ticked all of the boxes in my mind and left me feeling very comfortable with their staff, the price offered, and the technology used-which too is very important if you want the best for your eyes. I decided that I wished to have their top Accuvision Laser Eye Surgeon perform the procedure, something which Accuvision were very happy to allow me to do provided that I travel to him at their London branch in Fulham and they promptly sent me their surgery pack out in the post, together with a list of hotels which Accuvision recommend locally to their Fulham branch, which also offer a generous discount and are very much within walking distance of the clinic (which is important as you need to get back there straight away to recover following the surgery). I picked the Premier Inn option. I had my surgery on 27th May with both eyes Wavefront Optimised Lasik by Mr Chad Rostron. The whole procedure was quick and painless (although a little uncomfortable owing to the nature of what they do, as in your own mind you know what they are doing if you have done your research), they will give you drops to put into your eye and plastic eye shields to wear whilst in bed to stop your eye/s being rubbed together with their contact information should you experience any problems overnight or have any concerns. I will say that as soon as I got off the surgery table I was amazed at being able to see and despite being told to keep my eyes closed to help them heal I couldn't help but stare at the clock in the surgery on the wall! After a short wait in the reception together with my partner eyes closed I was allowed to go following a check to make sure that all had gone well, and given my eye drops and allowed to go. I had no problems over night, although the vision was a little hazy which is normal and some light sensitivity which went after a few hours but was able to go down to the hotel bar and eat and have a few drinks. I went back to the clinic the next morning after a wonderful stay at the Premier Inn Putney Bridge (the service was excellent but be careful about the price of their drinks!) and was seen by the opthalmologist whom examined my eyes and found them to be perfect. I had the bandage contact lenses removed, and although my vision was still a litttle hazy my vision was excellent and only just shy of 20/20. I also didn't experience any light sensitivity or discomfort. All of the staff at their Fulham branch were very friendly, especially Vikram whom I met and the whole process so far a very pleasurable one to date. It's now 10 days since the surgery and I have over 133% better than perfect vision which was confirmed by Nick Dash at the Solihull branch when I visited there for my 1 week appointment 2 days ago. I am told that my eyesight will improve even further and that the normal issues experienced at night (starbursts and halos of lights) will pass. I would thoroughly recommend anyone to give Accuvision a try.

24 May 2009

Like most people who have relied on either Contact Lenses of Glasses for many years, I have always wanted the freedom of unaided vision that Laser Eye surgery could give me. But like many people I didn't know enough about the procedure and spent several years putting it off due to media reports for disasters from having the procedure. Well I now 34 and the proud father of 2 wonderful children and a husband to a fantastic wife and I wanted to be able to have the complete freedom from glasses or lenses to enjoy any and all activities but especially swimming with the kids. I'd seen a advert from Optical Express offering Laser Eye Surgery from £400 per eye and after discussing things with my wife, I'd thought that I'd atleast have a consultation just to see if I could actually have the procedure. I visited the Birmingham branch of Optical Express and 2 hours later I had difficulty seeing (due to drops to dilate pupils) and I was then given the hard sale (£2900) and constantly pushed for a surgery date. I eventually left and it took 8 hours for my vison to return to normal (Never again - Optical Express). Later that week I stumbled on Accuvision's website and started to read the testimonials and decided to book a consultation. My consultation was for a Friday afternoon at 4pm and looking back this was the only disappointment with the whole experience, the reason being was that it was extremely busy and sadly the Receptionist forget to book me in, so it wasn't until 30 minutes later when I asked how much longer the wait would be they realised the mistake and promptly whisked me through. The whole consultation was a much more relaxed experience and at the end I was offered the price of £1900 for Lasik Wavefront for a prescription of -4.5 in both eyes. There was no hard sale and I would have been happily allowed to walk away and never be contacted by Accuvision ever again (what a different world) I asked for a list of available dates to take away with me. The very next day I phoned and booked the surgery for 2 weeks later. On the day of the procedure I was apprehensive about the whole thing, but after years of contact lenses and spending the last week wearing my glasses I was definately going ahead. The procedure was over within 5 minutes and as everyone has said is totally painless, it is just totally bizarre!! 2 weeks on I'm still bemused by the whole experience but its been one of the best decisions I've made in my entire 34 years. I had a check-up yesterday and its been 2 weeks since the surgery and there have been no problems what-so-ever, the hardest thing for the first few nights was trying to keep the eye protectors on whilst sleeping. The day after the surgery I actually drove to the clinic, my vision was that good and I was told it was already 20/20. I was told yesterday that my left eye is 20/20 and my right eye (dominant eye) is slightly better!!!!!!!! The whole experience has been well worth it and I'd like to thank everyone at Accuvision Solihull for their excellent support. I'd also like to thank my wife for supporting me with and most of all my parents for paying for the surgery, without them this would not have been possible (Thanks mam). Regards Steve Bambury

14 May 2009

The whole experience was positive with friendly staff who were professional and reassuring. As I travelled from France for the treatment everything was clearly explained and follow up care arranged with my travel arrangements in mind. I had no pain at all and my vision is now FAB!
