4. The Verdict
I am really happy with the results. Apart from the machine not working and the long wait, the staff at this Optimax were really nice, friendly and helpful, as was Dr Patel. I would recommend this Optimax. – Tina Gibson

Optimax has an average overall rating due to hit-and-miss patient care, based on nearly 9,000 independent reviews on Lasik Eyes since 2002.
Most patients we spoke to were happy with the service. However, the long waiting times and poor communication mean this clinic misses the top spots on the list of the best laser eye surgery clinics in the UK. Still, Optimax makes it into these top lists:

Any comments on the Optimax Croydon clinic? There doesn't seem to be much mention about treatments at the Croydon clinic.

Has anyone has any experience with the Leeds branch? How good are they? Has anyone treatments gone wrong & does anyone recommend them? I am thinking of booking in October but apprehensive after reading some negative comments. What is the best clinic in peoples opinion?

I'm having my Epiflap surgery booked with Dr Almasari for Sat 13th September. Does anyone have any comments about this surgeon? Is Epiflap exactly the same as Lasek? Many thanks for your help!

Question for anyone, please say how bad your prescription was, as this would be really helpful. Anyone had treatment for +8 and what were the results? is it even available for really poor eyesight?

I'm gearing up to have treatment. So far, I've read everything I could find on the various treatments, I've attended an open day at Birmingham Optimax and I've been to see my doctor and asked his advice. Tomorrow I'm attending a free consultation with Ultralase, though I have to say this is really going to be a benchmark for the consultation I'm going to book with Optimax in a couple of weeks when I return from holiday. I'm concerned on how they can charge so little compared to people like Ultralase, as I've always believed you get what you pay for. There is also the part of me that always wants the best deal though, so I'm still looking closest at Optimax, but I'm looking for the potential concerns. If anyone has had experience with any B'ham surgeries (good or bad) and has any advice, I'd be most interested. Thanks.

As I stated previously I had one eye done 1st Sept prescription -4.00. Im not in pain anymore just my eye tires easily and Im still sensitive to light I feel like a film star wearing sunglasses in the house, but my vision is still very hazy to be honest Im starting to get a bit worried now, but I know I have to be patient. I was supposed to start work today but my Doctor has given me a weeks sick note - I will be bored silly ha ha but seriously Im pleased I didnt get both eyes done same time. Maybe some people heal quicker than me, I STILL DONT HAVE ANY REGRETS just no patience!
