Had Lasik at the Finchly Road clinic by Mr Patel in April. I had prescription of about -6.00 and now have 20/20. Thank you Mr Patel, Russell Ambrose and Optimax! Its wonderful to be able to be 'normal' after wearing glasses for 45 years. will thouroughly recommend to anyone and everyone I meet.

Decided to upgrade to Lasik from Epi-Lasik based on positive comments and recovery time in relation to driving etc. Had treatment at Leicester Optimax following the consultation and tests by a South African Doctor called Andre. He was fantastic as were the rest of the Leicester staff. I would agree with the dentist comments that other people have left (burning smell etc)and the general easiness of the operation. My sight is now fantastic 4 months 'in', (now see where my golf ball has landed!!)however the immediate results were very good after about 4 - 5 hours. My own personal account of discomfort - felt like a double eye poke for about three hours after returning home. Started back at work on the Friday having had treatment on the Wednesday afternoon. I was unsure whether my eyes were suitable for laser treatment as my one eye was -10.5 and the other -9.75. I went for my consultation and found that as my corneas were exceptionally thick I could have Lasik carried out. Although I do not have perfect vision in both eyes (I am now very slightly long sighted but still able to drive without glasses) I did not expect never to have to wear glasses again. I am 48 years of age so I knew I would need reading glasses - nothing can yet be done about the ageing process. I was just fed up of having to pay over £300 for a decent pair of glasses I have read comments about the possible side effects which Optimax points out prior to treatment but all laser treatment companies should point these out as they are all POSSIBLE. I have recommended treatment to several people and some have taken it up. I cannot say anything bad about the treatment I received from Optimax, Birmingham and, as said by many others, I wish I had the opportunity to have the treatment earlier. I have told my 12 year old daughter that as soon as she is 21 I will pay for her to have the treatment done, unless, of course, the government decide that this 'cosmetic' treatment can be done on the NHS. Anyone who has had the treatment or is thinking of it, please contact your local MP an we can hopefully let everyone who wears glasses have the option of having treatment on the NHS.

Had Epi-Lasik at Liverpool on Saturday 13th August 2005. I'm 25 and my vision was -2.25 and -2.50. This was my second consultation as in April I wasn't suitable due to a viral infection, although I wasn't aware that I had one. Had all my tests done again, blood pressure etc and had my consultation with Dr Madusudhan. He had a look and confirmed what my optician had told me, that my infection had cleared up. It was a fantastic feeling, knowing that in a couple of hours I will have surgery to improve my vision with the hope of not having to wear contact lenses again. I went back into reception, massive smile on my face, told my dad that I was having it done and paid my deposit. Sat waiting for the treatment, was getting quite anxiuos. Wasn't feeling nervous at all it was just the waiting, I just wanted to get in there and get it down. They called me in, and I lay down. The put the white tape over my eye lashes so they didn't get in the way and put some aneastetic eye drops in. The clamp was next to open my eyes, didn't feel a thing as they poured some more drops in and peeled back the epithelium. Such an amazing experience watching them peel it back, quite strange really. Then I looked at the red light as I started to hear the clicking sound followed by the smell of burning. Can't really describe the smell, smells like burning rubber. Next they put the epitelium back over, put on a bandage lens and repeated the procedure with the other eye. I started to shake quite a bit during the second half and went a bit cold. I think my body had gone into shock, but I was okay after a couple of minutes. After that he looked to check that the lenses where fitting correctly, my left was fine but my right wasn't. He removed it and replaced it with another one, which too wasn't fitting properly, so he had to remove that and fit a third lens. This seemed to work fine. I stood up, was asked to read a couple of letters on the wall and walked out. I was given some steroid drops to be taken 3 times a day, antibiotic drops to be taken 4 times a day, refresh eye drops to be taken 12 times a day. They also give me some pain killers and some relaxants to help me sleep. My dad took me home and already I could see the difference, it was amazing. Couldn't feel any pain at all until about 2 hours after surgery. My right eye started to hurt, so I went upstairs and lay down for a bit. Took the painkillers and 2 of the relaxants. Lay there for quite some time and just couldn't sleep. The pain was getting worse at this point. Anyway the relaxants must have kicked in because I remember waking up at 1:15am. I was gutted because my eye was still quite sore and I wanted to sleep right through til morning. I managed to doze back off again and woke at about 4am. Just lay there for a bit with my eyes closed and got up at about 7. I taken some more pain killers and the pain was easing up, at least I could open my eye now. As the day progressed I just forgot about the pain and eventually it had gone. The pain was actually quite mild and even with that pain, if I could go back knowing about it I'd still have it done. My left eye didn't experience any pain at all. I think my right eye probably wouldn't have been that bad if the first bandage lens fitted properly without them having to change it a couple of times. Each day my eye sight just got better and better. I went back on the following Wednesday to have my lenses removed. I already had 20/20 vision in my left eye by this point. My right was still a bit blurred but that was because it was swollen. I was told that this would improve, and it has. I went back on Wednesday 24th for an aftercare appointment and both of them are actually better than 20/20 vision. Although my right one is still slightly blurred, but again this is because of the swelling. I'm very happy with my results and the staff at optimax are brilliant, very friendly, helpful, great bubbly personalities. The surgeons themselves are great. I'd recommend Optimax to anyone.

I attended the Optimax Leeds branch. From start to finish, I was shown first class customer care. The surgeon explained the procedure in simple terms, and alayed any fears that I had. The Lasik procedure was amazingly quick, and totally painless. I experienced a mild discomfort for around two hours afterwards, but no more than if I had been wearing my contact lenses to sleep in. The following morning I had eyesight better than that experienced with my contact lenses. I cannot recommend Optimax too highly.

I had epi-lasik treatment at the Birmingham Optimax clinic two weeks ago. My prescription was -2 and -3.25 and now I have 20:20 vision. There was some discomfort (not enough to stop me sleeping) for the first 24 hours but that was it. My vision has improved daily since. I bought the treatment via Ebay and paid £795 total for both eyes, which I think is excellent value when you think how much I have spent in my life on glasses and contract lenses. I took a week off work to recover but this was mainly because I have to do a lot of driving and needed to be sure I was safe to be on the roads.

Croydon clinic. EPI-LASEK 3 weeks ago. Dr Hoe. I had something like -2.5 in both eyes. consultation same day as surgery. in and out in just over an hour. had a very uncomfortable evening until i eventually conked out thanks to pain killers and sleeping pills. it'd be wise to practice using eye drops before you get it done otherwise you'll be getting used to it at your most vulnerable time. i think i didn't use anesthetic drops correctly or my tears washed them out and that's why they didn't appear to work. next day i woke up fine. pain gone and had a normal weekend - telly etc. when i got protective contacts off a few days later I had better than 20/20. it's even improved since that according to my last test a week ago. still healing up though which means eyes dry up during night sometimes, but i have Viscotears gel to prevent that. Fantastic value for money.

All gain and no pain, really nice people and great service, go for it!

I had Epi-lasek on moderately short-sighted eyes. There was 12 hrs of minor discomfort, which is fairly insignificiant when you consider the gains. I have 20/20 vision now and would recommend this treatment to anyone. I went to Optimax Liverpool clinic and the staff there were great and very professional and I would highly recommend them(my Dad and bother are also going there now!). Don't be put off by the fact Optimax is cheaper than other clinics, i personally think that other clinics are just ripping people off. If you purchase this surgery through ebay (like I did) you can get correction in both eyes for £795 and no extra costs! Please contact me if you need any more information, Claire Beech.

I bought my Laser Eye Surgery on Ebay. The whole process from bidding, to having the treatment done, has only taken 3 weeks. I chose Epi lasek treatment for my short sightedness, and chose Liverpool as my nearest clinic. I had my treatment on 16th August 2005. My settings were:- left eye sph -2.84.Cyl -0.56.Axis 175. right eye sph -3.04.Cyl -0.88.Axis 15. I would like to thank all of the staff and the operating surgeon in Liverpool for their professional manner, and also their friendliness. I am still receiving aftercare appointments, and my eyesight is improving day on day. I have a little blurred vision with my left eye, but I have been advised that this is normal and will correct itself as the weeks go on. I think that it is a brilliant idea to sell this on Ebay, as many people generally think it is too expensive to receive treatment to correct their vision. I had previously been to Ultralase and was advised that treatment would have cost me £2400 minimum for both eyes with them. I have recommended Optimax to almost everyone I know who wears glasses, from my nextdoor neighbour to a shop assistant in Asda's!!! Thank you Optimax for giving me a better quality of life.
