With over 25,000 cataract surgeries to his name, Mr Gerard Kervick is an experienced Ophthalmologist specialising in lens replacement surgery in Cork.
After training in Belfast, Mr Kervick has worked in Northern Ireland and North America, before joining the Mater Private Hospital in 1995. He has been performing LASIK surgery since 1998.

Mr Kervick has been performing laser eye surgery since 1998. He became a Consultant in 1991, and is currently a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at the Mater Hospital in Cork.
Known for his work in treating cataracts, Mr Kervick specialises in a specific style of vision correction called phacoemulsification. This involves performing cataract surgery using a tiny incision on the eye surface (cornea) using an excimer laser.
With anaesthetic eye drops alone, the surgeon is able to insert folding intraocular lenses. And the Mater Private Hospital prides itself on offering premium multifocal lenses.
For those not suitable for this type of treatment (perhaps due to age limits or complex eye prescriptions), Mr Kervick also provides refractive lens exchange (RLE), also known as clear lens extraction.
