Excellent briefing before the surgery, going into details of different procedures. I would recommend speaking with Dimitri before surgery if you have any queries before the treatment day or at least be prepared for an in depth chat on the day. My treatment very well and my vision is better than 20/20 even if I went for the standard lasik treament with mechanical flap creation. I am relieved these are the results I obtained as the treatment was considerably cheaper.. Also, treament was pretty much painless and I drove to appointment the next day. This is just the way it was for me, Im sure there is nothing to worry about if it takes just a little longer for vision to stabalise. (I was short sighted -5.25 and -6.75)

Mr Kazakos was very comforting & reassuring prior to me going in for the surgery. He advised the details of the surgery & what discomfort I may feel whilst undergoing the surgery. Once in surgery Mr Kazakos clearly explained what he was doing step by step, which made me feel relaxed. As soon as it was over (which was within 10 mins) I could see the difference straight away.I did not feel any pain during or after the surgery apart from a little discomfort for the first couple of hours. I did not feel I needed to relax when I went home, though I did as advised. The next day I was up & about as usual. I would recommend this surgery to anyone. Life is so much easier now not having to rely on glasses or contacts.Thank you Mr Kazakos.

Really impressed. Surgery went smooth, and the aftercare was brilliant. Had my 1 day and 1 week appointments at the White-City branch with the same Optometrist Pete who was very thorough as he guided me through all the do's and dont's. The actual surgery is only 30 seconds per eye, and the first day was painful. But after a good night sleep I woke the next morning with my eyesight better then 20/20. My eyes were set we're for the first two weeks, but this went away gradually after about a month. Would highly reccomend.

I specifically chose Dimitri to perform my Lasik (with Intralase and Wavefront), despite having to travel 240 miles each way, after researching and hearing so many positive things about him. Only my left eye required treating - my right eye was already perfect. My left eye had astigmatism.I had the consultation in my home town, and am having the post-op care here, but traveled to Bluewater in Kent, down from Yorkshire, for the procedure itself.I must say it was absolutely worth the long trip. Dimitri was excellent, honest, very re-assuring, and his confidence in himself translated into me being very relaxed and confident. We had a chat before the procedure where he explained what I should expect, and so forth. He explained that my sight will be a little blurry straight after the procedure but should start returning about 20 minutes after the procedure, and I'd be at 90-95% of what my glasses were by the time I wake up the next morning, and would gradually improve due to the healing process. He explained that due to my slightly complex prescription I'd have about a 97% chance of being zero-prescription once the healing has finished, and in the event of the 3% may require an enhancement down the line.He talked me through the procedure itself, and I must have only been in the treatment room for 5 minutes from start to finish. He talked me through the intralase, saying "only 10 more seconds to go, you're doing absolutely fantastic, the procedure is going really really well". Absolutely reassuring and made me feel extremely relaxed. Then once the intralase had finished, he told me "we're half way through the entire procedure already" and I thought wow - to be honest I couldn't even 'feel' we'd started!Then had the wavefront measurements, then the procedure itself, both absolutely painless and took a matter of seconds each. Then Dimitri put the flap back in place and sat me up, and then examined my eye afterwards, and everything looked great.We traveled home, I rested with my eyes closed in the car on the journey home. When I got home I had a quick look in the mirror and my eyes never even had any red patches, could barely tell I'd had anything done. The next day (only 21 hours after the procedure) had my 1-day checkup back in my home town. Her exact words were "I must say I'm impressed, he's done a really neat job". I could just about read the line below the 20/20 line (6/5 or 20/16ish) already, less than 24 hours on.As I'm typing this, a week and 1 day since the procedure. I've just this morning had my weekly checkup, and everything is looking great. The line below the 20/20 line (6/5) is now clearer than last weekend and looks pretty pin-sharp. They told me there is now no sign of my astigmatism whatsoever.I must say the pre and post care has been excellent, and Dimitri has done a fantastic job for me. I can't rate him highly enough.

I had lasik eye surgery in November 2009, at Optical Express in Birmingham. My prescription before surgery was about -2.75 in my right eye and -3.25 in my left eye. All of the staff at Optical Express were very helpful and friendly and made you feel very welcome and were very professional. On the day of the surgery I met the surgeon Dr Kazakos before my surgery and he was very nice and made me feel very comfortable about the procedure. The procedure itself didnt take very long and there was minimal discomfort especially when you consider the amazing results.Now that I have better than 20 20 vision and no longer need glasses or lenses it has meant that I no longer have to take time to sort out my lenses in the morning or night in order to be able to see properly. I would recommend anyone thinking about having laser eye surgery to do it.

This was my second time round. Unfortunately I had a relapse, though Optical Express are fantastic.It is only a small percent of peoples surgery who relapse, I happen to be one of them.This doctor was very professional and so were the staff who aided in the surgery.After having the surgery twice I 100% recommend that anyone with bad eyesight should go for the surgery, it leaves you contact lense andglass free.I would like to thank Optical Express for all there help.My eye sight at present is perfect.

I have nothing bad to say about this surgeon, he was a very good surgeon. I was very nervous before the surgery and he was able to calm me down quickly. I am also satisfied with his pre & post examinations.I would recommend him to anyone !!!

I am impressed. I had the surgery done 6 months ago and I have to say that Dimitri and the team at Optical Express were excellent. My prescription before the surgery was about -5 in each eye, so I was extremely short sighted, I even needed glasses to read things up close like reading a book or menu. 24 hours after the surgery and my vision was already better than 20:20 (6:6). I think that it is something like 20:12 now which means that opticians don't have charts small enough for my new vision. I have to admit that it wasn't all plain sailing with Optical Express though. Like others in this industry they tempt people through the door with ridiculously cheap offers (apparently these only apply to people who need minimal correction i.e. those whose visual aberration is so mild that they probably aren't interested in correction anyway). It seems, the bigger the visual imparement the more expensive the operation. As they get people in the door with dreams of a cheap offer they are then hit with a pretty hard sell. I would not be surprised if the opticians who do the initial consultation are on a handsome commission structure. I found these sales tactics aggressive and unprofessional. (they even offered me 10% discount if I signed up there and then, I didn't as I wanted to get a second opinion with Ultralase.) A few weeks later when I had decided to go with Optical Express I then insisted on the 10% discount previously offered and the salesperson/optician eventually conceded. Apparently, this is known as the "Platinum" discount, it is a standard discount used by Optical Express and it saved me 230 pounds.But I did suspect that when it came to the operation Optical Express would act in a more professional manner and so I decided to reserve judgement and wait to meet other consultants. I was proved rightI had time on my hands and so was able to research into the standard of equipment and how their system rates to others and it seems that the value for money offered by Optical Express compared to their competitors is impressive, even if they are aggressive at the initial consultation. As for Mr. Kazakos himself, I only had a brief consultation with him prior to the operation. He seemed nice enough and professional. The operation was a resounding success though and I wouldn't hesitate on recommending him to friends or family, though I would warn them about how much the procedure is likely to cost and the kind of sales pressure that Optical Express likes to employ.
