I had LASIK surgery in both eyes in June 2010. I found Mr Ball friendly and professional throughout the whole process from initial consultation, through surgery and follow up checks. The results of the surgery were brilliant with excellent vision in both eyes. I had the surgery on Friday afternoon and was given the all clear to drive the following day. It could not have gone any better.I would recommend Mr Ball to anyone, in fact I already have in that a friend has been for a consultation having seen the difference it has made to me.

I'd worn glasses since I was 11 and had a strong prescription (-5.25 & -6.75 and astigmatism in one eye) so as soon as I turned 21 I wanted laser surgery. I'd saved up for it in previous years so cost wasn't my priority. After doing research I saw St James had lots of good reviews and the latest technology, and as I was realistic about cost, wasn't expecting the '£395 per eye' most high street chains promise. My consultation was really helpful and I didn't feel pressuriesed to have the surgery. I had lots of thorough tests and I got to spend a good half an hour discussing my options with Mr Ball, which meant any concerns I had were put to rest, but I also was told honestly about any risks to be aware of. I was then told I suitable for surgery. They said to go away and tink about it but after thinking about it for over 2 years, and after the brilliant service I received on my consulation, I phoned that afternoon and made an apointment. The surgery itself wasn't as bad as I thought,a little unconfortable but I got lots of reassurance throughout and if anything it was just a really wierd experience. I had lasek which (I think) is a bit more intrusive than lasik so my healing time was longer and experienced about 3 days of uncomfort and irritation. I was back at work 5 days after having it done. Under 3 months on and my dry eye has almost completely disappeared, I have 20/20 vision, in fact I probably see better than most people who don't need glasses. The after care is great, your given lots of drops and check ups.I can't explain how amazing it is to be able to see this well after having such a strong prescription and always relying on my glasses or contacts. It is definitely worth the money. I'd say don't be swayed by high street chains discounts because for something as important as your eyes you want the best care and I definitely felt I go it at St James. Thanks to everyone there.

After doing research on Laser treatment I am so pleased I decided to choose St James, both staff and consultants are very caring and made me feel comfortable throughout. James Ball is most Proffessional and caring, he explained everything before and during the operation. I was most impressed with the before and after care received and would highly reccommend and encourage anyone who is thinking of having Laser surgery to go to ST James.

I've worn glasses and contacts for most of my life, but when I developed an intolerance to contact lenses, I began to look into laser eye surgery, which I'd always wanted to do. I initially looked at some high street opticians which advertised everywhere, but while doing online research I stumbled across St James Laser Vision. I liked that it was connected with St James Hospital and it seemed to focus on treatment/health more than money/sales, which gave me confidence in them. When I went for my consultation, I was sold at St James. James Ball explained I needed Lasek, rather than Lasik, due to thin corneas and dryness. He went through the results of my tests with me so I understood what would happen and why, and how my recovery would differ from Lasik. I admit I was disappointed that the price had gone up just before my consultation, so I paid nearly £1k more than I'd intended, but I'd already made my mind up to have it. I got a 0% interest payment plan and besides, it's totally worth it! The actual surgery was very quick, although the recovery was uncomfortable and I was off work for more than a week. Dr Ball answered any and all questions I had and was very reassuring, so I felt like I knew what was coming next and didn't have to worry. The surgery provided me with all of the eye drops / medications I needed and were very good about explaining what I could expect during the recovery process. At my month checkup my left eye still had some catching up to do to my right, but at my 3 month checkup my vision in both eyes was better than 20/20, and aside from the occasional dry eyes (when I use the drops I was given), I've not had any complications or pain. It's amazing to wake up in the morning and be able to see, and I love not having to worry about taking out contacts. I am so glad I went with St James Laser Vision - they're professional, they know what they're doing, and I felt like a person who mattered, not just another sale. I'd highly recommend them!

Going from incredibly short sighted (-6 and -7.5) to perfect vision for both distance and reading is fantastic. I had put off ever having laser surgery because I cannot bear for anyone to go anywhere near my eyes! Mr Ball and his staff have been superb in every aspect. The aftercare was second to none and because the technology is so advanced, I had minimal discomfort on the first evening, and none at all thereafter. The technology has also meant that my eyes are good for both distance and reading. I would strongly recommend you go for a consultation.

It was painless with a quick recovery time. Would highly recommend to everyone I know!!

After Wearing Contact lenses (Gas Permeable) for 20 years I started to develop dry eye, So I decided to look into eye laser treatment. On hearing a lot of good reports about Mr. James Ball at the eye laser clinic at st James. I made an appointment For a consultation with Mr ball. He did a lot of eye examinations on both my eyes to determine if my eyes were suitable, Lucky for me they were. I was very nervous on the day of the laser treatment but I needn’t have been as Mr. Ball Talked me through the whole procedure and was very reassuring. The only uncomfortable part was when the eye clamps were going in but once they were in I didn’t notice that they were there. Before they start the laser someone will put numbing drops in both your eyes. After I had it done I was given a lot of drops to put in my eyes. For the first few hours My eyes did feel sore, I was told to keep putting the drops in and just rest them. They did get a lot easier after that though. I could not believe the difference in my sight, I could see really well.In the first few months I found that my sight was better some days than others. But after 10 months of having it done I found that it had improved a lot better. MANY THANKS TO ALL THE TEAM AT LASER VISION.ESPECIALLY MR. JAMES BALL FOR THE TIME AND CARE THAT YOU PROVIDED.
