Having laser eye surgery was the best decision I have ever made in my life. As a young and active 22 year old I didn’t enjoy wearing glasses and contact lenses were a faff especially when playing sport. I was recommended to the St. James’ practice by a doctor friend and I was extremely impressed with the service, staff, cost and the procedure itself.
Mr Ball and his team made me feel welcome and guided me through the entire process, answering any questions or concerns that I had. Found this clinic accidentally whilst browsing the internet looking for information on Laser surgery, and I'm glad I did. I felt much more confident attending this clinic which is part of St James Hospital in Leeds. My treatment was with Mr Morrell, who was involved also in my initial consultation. Despite my being slightly nervous of the procedure, he was informative and highly professional throughout. After the surgery my eyesight was already improved and continued to do so in the following days/weeks. My check ups have all been satisfactory, and as I write this I am seven weeks post-op, my eyesight is fantastic and I am more than pleased that I went ahead with the surgery, and with the results. From start to finish the care I received from St James laser vision was outstanding. I was made fully aware of any risks involved and was informed about every detail of the surgery i was about to have. The after care was also very good. 4 months on and I have perfect vision although my vision was above 20/20 2 months after the operation. The actual procedure was very quick and painless. In fact the only awkward part of the surgery was trying to stop myself rubbing my eyes in my sleep but this was solved with a pair of cool eye shields and some tape. Going from incredibly short sighted (-6 and -7.5) to perfect vision for both distance and reading is fantastic. I had put off ever having laser surgery because I cannot bear for anyone to go anywhere near my eyes! Mr Ball and his staff have been superb in every aspect. The aftercare was second to none and because the technology is so advanced, I had minimal discomfort on the first evening, and none at all thereafter. The technology has also meant that my eyes are good for both distance and reading. I would strongly recommend you go for a consultation.

I had outstanding service from my consultant Mr. Andrew Morrell. The rest of the staff were also brilliant – very professional, efficient and caring. I went from a vision of -5.75 and -5.25 to almost perfect vision. My left eye still has a very slight prescription but not enough to warrant wearing glasses. As an active person who likes to run and walk outdoors, it has changed my life. The extensive and attentive follow-up for over 12 months afterwards was also brilliant.

Treatment went well, I had a quite high prescription (borderline for successful results apparently, -7.0 in one eye -6.5 in the other, both with some astigmatism). Mr Ball was very competent and reassuring throughout the procedure, and seems a down to earth bloke which helps reassure you! Only slight shock for me was that the “slight pressure” you feel when they cut the flap in your eye is a bit of a toe curler, I’d compare it to someone pulling the hairs on your arms. Vision is now better than it ever was wearing contacts, and improving still (treatment was a couple of months ago). Its £3000 regardless of what treatment they use – they just use the best for you – and if you need a top up treatment, that’s included in the 3k as is all the aftercare (which is for a year). Only minor problem was that I had trouble getting through to them as the phone number on the website was incorrect – I think this has been fixed now – so if you’ve tried them and couldn’t get through – try again!!

I had been considering laser eye treatment for some time before I finally decided to have them done and someone told me about St James Laser Eye Clinic. At my consultation Mr Morrell (the consultant) was excellent and explained everything to me in full and went through various tests and advised me that I was suitable to have the treatment. He made me feel in safe hands and put me at ease. I was provided with 5* star treatment and support from the very beginning and I have just had my 12 month check up and my vision is 20/20. I have had fantastic results and I now think why did I put it off for so long. All through my treatment I always saw Mr Morrell which is reassuring including follow up appointments.
