Site for Eyes was highly recommended to me by a friend. Although I live in Whitley Bay I decided to travel to Sunderland as my eyesight is obviously important and I wanted the best treatment possible. And this is what I got. The consultation was with Mr Danjoux himself. He gave me a mine of information, pointed out any risks and I was able to make an informed decision. I was given a booklet which went through the whole procedure. The staff were helpful and extremely reassuring. They were friendly and welcoming. The procedure itself was totally painless and the aftercare second to none-brilliant! I had no post op pain at all and no discomfort. I had regular check ups and free lubricating drops for the year. My vision was perfect from the start and monovision worked perfectly for me. I am 59 years old and can see distance and read without specs-brilliant! I only wish I had done it sooner. I would recommend Mr Danjoux and Site for Eyes to anyone.

Best thing I have ever done! I felt very reassured by my optician's recommendation of site for eyes, and also by the vast amount of information available on both their website and in the free information booklet (which can be ordered direct from their website). I stumbled across this website among many others while researching options, and everything already said here is true. The optometrist and reception staff are of as high a quality as Mr Danjoux himself. I had my surgery almost a year ago, following a consultation about 3 months earlier (I arranged it to be so late, as I was based in another part of the UK and wanted to be able to stay with my parents for at least a week after the surgery). The procedure was exactly as described in their booklet, so I knew what was happening at all times, and Mr Danjoux also explains the process as he is doing it. Immediately after the surgery I knew it had worked, but could not be sure how successfully, because I was wearing the strange goggle contraptions for 24 hours. The next day, I had 20/20 vision, a week later even better, and it has remained that way ever since. The only side effect I had was that for the 6 months following surgery I needed to use shop-bought eye drops first thing in the morning because my eyes dried up a lot overnight. I could have dealt with that for the rest of my life, because the positives were so good, but even that disappeared after 6 months. I would wholeheartedly recommend site for eyes, especially to those who have more complicated prescriptions, as I did. Ultralase did not fill me with confidence, and even the websites for Optimax and Optical Express put me off, with their "prices from" tagline. With site for eyes, you know what you're paying from the very beginning, and I paid less than I would have paid at Ultralase anyway. For more basic prescriptions, you could probably pay less and not need the security of being in an eye hospital with a trusted pioneer. For somebody who struggled to get past the top line of an optician's chart, this has been absolutely life-changing, and doing it aged 21 means I'll have years of use before I may need glasses again, should my eyes deteriorate in my 40s/50s. I love it, and think every day how lucky I am that this procedure was possible, to take away the expense of astigmatic contact lenses, the occasional pair of glasses and sight test. The surgery will have paid for itself in about 8 years, based on my previous expenses! To sum up - look around, and see where your instincts take you, but site for eyes is going to be a comfortable option for anybody because of the professionalism and history behind those doors. But easy prescriptions could consider cheaper options.

Excellent customer journey from initial consultation to final eye check. Everything was explained in plain English and with great patience. The procedure was painless but quite an experience. Although I still need glasses to read when the light isn't too good (goes with the age!!), I am glasses free. If anyone is considering having this done, my advice is to go for it. I'm glad I did.

Treatment date 04.11.09. I would not hesitate to recommend Mr. Danjoux and his team, very caring and professional. I wore glasses from the age of four and then contact lenses from the age of seventeen right up until the surgery, (I am now 46) I no longer have the need for either, it's amazing !

The consultancy review and treatment I received from Mr Danjoux was excellent along with the aftercare at each subsequent visit.

I chose this clinic as it is attached to Sunderland eye infirmary and has a good reputation. I found all of the staff from the secretaries to the consultant very professional and friendly. At no time did anyone try to persuade me to go ahead with the surgery and there was no pressure placed upon me as I have heard reports of this from others using different clinics. The consultant explained everything to me in the consultation, including the risks associated with eye surgery. The procedure was quick and painless and the post care excellent. The optometrist was very friendly and approachable and always addressed any concerns I had. I would have no hesitation in recommending this clinic to anyone considering laser eye surgery. It was slightly more expensive than some clinics I've heard of but with only one pair of eyes I personally would rather pay that little extra for good quality care and treatment. I was advised that I only needed treatment for 1 eye, which saved me another £1300 which I was expecting to spend. Have worn varifocals for years, from first thing in the morning until last thing at night. It's fantastic to be able to drive & see clearly again. I need reading glasses for close work. Surgeon Mr Danjoux was recommended to me via a relative who is a consultant surgeon working in Scotland and checked with her local/trusted eye specialist colleagues by asking who they would go to if they were to have laser surgery on their own eyes. My prescriptions were -6 and -6.5 with a slight astigmatism. I am late forties and have worn gas permeable lenses for 30 years Site-for-eyes, while a small unit, is located within Sunderland Eye Hospital (a slightly "old school" hospital rather than a modern high tech environment), and there is a significant degree of comfort in knowing that everything they do there is related to fixing eyes, and that there seemed to be a great depth of domain expertise in eyes all around. The surgeons within the Site for Eyes teams had particularly strong CVs. Plus points of Site-for Eyes - very good initial explanation of risks associated with surgery, answering fully questions on why lasik, how further treatment would still be possible if needed at any point in the future and so forth - surgeon did not over-promise but delivered what he indicated would be the result - functional eyesight which allows me to drive and play golf without glasses/contact lenses. - The same consultant who did the initial consultation performed the surgery and after surgery checks - The optometrist's pre and after support was always professional and friendly - in general all appointments were on time Possible improvements: - immediately before the laser treatment itself a walk through of what the actual (brief) operational experience would be like would have had value, at least for me - e.g. that quite strong pressure would be felt applied to each eye to allow the surgeon to create the flap (briefly uncomfortable but I assume normal), that a slight odour might be possible to smell during the laser treatment itself, and that the red dot to watch would become thousands as soon as the laser started. While all understandable when thought about afterwards, they were all slight surprises at the time. Overall I had no problems with my eyes post-operation, and absolutely no discomfort or gritty feeling in them. I felt confident enough in my sight to drive a few days after surgery although it did take quite a few weeks for my focus in each eye to fine-adjust to their end result. I was also provided with special "synthetic tears" for use on a long haul flight I had to take within 5 days of surgery - again no problems. I can use computers without glasses and although I am at the point where I may need glasses to read a book or newspaper comfortably, that is most likely age related. Very grateful to the team at Site-for-eyes for now not having to deal with contact lenses (or glasses) anymore. and in my turn would highly recommend them to others considering sight correction surgery.

Treatment and after care was excellent. Vision for sport, driving and general purpose is excellent and specs free. Reading glasses go with my age, and almost 1 year on my eyes get dry and tired occasionally. Pleased I did it.

I would happily recommend Mr Danjoux and his team to anyone considering undergoing laser eye treatment. Extreme professionalism was shown throughout the procedure and after-care, I was consistently informed at each step and all questions were answered succinctly! I'm very happy with the overall results and only wish I'd done it years ago!
