For people with a very high degree of hyperopia who would not benefit from LASIK surgery, an alternative treatment called Refractive Lens Exchange is available, which is similar to cataract surgery, where the lens inside the eye is replaced with a new multi focal foldable lens, so that the patient will no longer need to wear thick glasses.

I had LASEK surgery a week ago with Mr Khatib at the MDA Clinic, Cardiff. My vision was -8.50 and -9.50 and I had thought that my eyes would be too bad to fix. I was wrong, I could not be happier with the result of surgery and I thoroughly believe that such a positive outcome of the surgery is a testament to Mr Khatib’s experience and skill. I was very impressed with the whole experience from start to finish and have recommended the clinic to colleagues and friends.

Considering that I was -8.00 in both eyes and had been refused by the big high street chains, I honestly thought I would be wearing glasses for the rest of my life. Oh, how wrong could I be! I am now driving standard and the only pair of glasses I now own are my new sunnies. And I have been told that it is likely that they will be the only glasses I will ever have to wear in my life. I had my surgery 6 months ago and can say that it was well worth the money. The staff are second to none in making the surgery and aftercare a breeze. I know I do not have perfect vision but I was not even expecting to be driving standard due to the complications that my eyes presented. IT'S 2 WEEKS SINCE I HAD MY LASEK SURGERY PERFORMED BY DR KHATIB, I WAS EXTREMELY NERVOUS BEFORE THE PROCEDURE BUT THE RE-ASSURANCES FROM ALL THE STAFF REALLY HELPED. EVERYTHING WAS EXPLAINED BY DR KHATIB THROUGHOUT THE PROCESS WHICH ONLY LASTED ABOUT 20 MINUTES BUT FELT A LOT QUICKER. THERE WAS NO PAIN OR DISCOMFORT AT ALL. ALL THE STAFF WERE EXCELLENT AND DR KHATIB EVEN TELEPHONED ME AT HOME THAT NIGHT TO CHECK EVERYTHING WAS OK. The treatment was amazing - just 30 hours ago I had painless surgery and now have better that 20/20 vision! The Op was painless - just a bit of discomfort. I am amazed with the results - would have the op once a year if it meant having vision this good - and I hate operations!! Dr and all staff were brilliant. Couldn't recommend more. Go for it!!!

I had lasek surgery two days ago, performed by Dr Khatib and assisted by Mrs Khatib at the MDA clinic. Everything about the procedure was explained thoroughly before and during the surgery.Mr Khatib is a totally professional perfectionist. Its just 4 days since I had my eyes "fixed" and I can honestly say its like a miracle. I had the lasik wavefront, which I understand is the very latest in laser surgery. The operation was painless and quick. there was a slight burning smell, which is the gases from the laser, and that was probably the only yucky part of the whole experience! The staff at the MDA clinic were fabulous and were so reassuring and kind. The nurse even held my hand going into the operating room! Within 24 hours I was driving (after a checkup with the doctor). I now fighter pilot vision and even my astigmatism has been cured. I really recommend the MDA clinic. Thank you!!

I cannot recommend this clinic highly enough. It is reassuring to discover we have somewhere with such high standards on our doorstep in South Wales. From start to finish my experience was made stress-free by Dr Khatib and his amazing staff. Everything was explained with high attention to detail, and the aftercare is second to none. Dr Khatib takes pride in his work, and considers it his personal mission to give you the best possible result. You definitely feel as though he gives you the same standard of care as he would give a member of his own family, which is very reassuring. I now have perfect vision, and only wish I'd had the procedure years ago! If you are considering having laser eye surgery, this is definitely the place to go, you won't regret it.
