1. Review of Centre for Sight Clinic
Centre for Sight is a long-standing and renowned eye surgery clinic, with three practices in London, Surrey and West Sussex. Its leading consultant eye surgeon, Mr Sheraz Daya, founded the clinic way back in 1996 with a clear mission: provide exemplary eye care to patients in facilities that are purpose-built with their needs in mind.
What makes Centre for Sight different? Centre for Sight is based on Mr Daya’s vision that better surroundings can provide a higher standard of care. Today patients get to enjoy a spa-like or luxury hotel experience, rather than the dread of most hospital surgeries.
Is there anything else I should know? As you’d expect then, this clinic also comes with the price tag that accompanies a five-star experience. Yes, the facilities are kitted out with high-end diagnostic tech and quality lenses, backed up by a team of highly trained staff. But you leave all the fancy atmosphere behind the moment you step outside the clinic, and it won’t be a priority for everyone.

Centre for Sight also provides interest free pay monthly finance options over a generous 24 months – with some clinics, you’ll be paying 11% APR after the first year. As with most clinics, there’s a deposit of £500 to secure the surgery, but this cost comes off the total cost.

Centre For Sight Reviews

Emily:
“I first came through Centre for Sight because my husband had been here before for his laser procedure 10 years ago, as well as his brother and his aunt. Although we live all the way up in North Yorkshire, we wanted to come here since we have had great experience in the past. We knew it would be a good place for us.
Before I was not too short-sighted in terms of I didn’t have that much needed to be done. But it was going to make a big difference in terms of driving, etc.
My vision now – I cannot believe how I can see everything around me and the process has been quick. I had the consultation on Monday, surgery on Wednesday and the follow up on Thursday – so it was all been very quick.
My husband got his procedure done 10+ years ago exactly here – at Centre for Sight. It was interesting to hear his point of view because technology has advanced since he had his eyes done. At that time, he had some pain right after this procedure but for me it was nothing almost, a bit of headache and I am still getting used to my new vision.
Everything was really smooth. The staff are very helpful and lovely – very friendly, informative and answered by questions all along. There was a bit of discrepancy when I had seen one price online and the one quoted was different. But then I recognised that the prices I found online was much older pricing. Other than this everything was fine, my questions regarding that was handled quite professionally and it has been lovely.
My ‘new me’ feels ecstatic! My results are as good as I thought it would be. I have gained more confidence and freedom. 5 Stars!!!
Wonderful technical staff – so friendly and they remember you. The surgery itself was incredibly quick and my recovery was easy and speedy. Thanks to Dr. Sheraz Daya and Centre for Sight team.
I was recommended by my previous family members who went through their eye procedures here with good results. I would recommend Centre for Sight to all my friends and family without hesitation.”
Chris:
“My father is an eye surgeon and when he found out I was short-sighted more than 10 years back, he took me to his colleague in Leeds. He investigated my eye sight and diagnosed me with Astigmatism. I was surprised to hear that was not prepared to work on it and correct my vision. He suggested Dr. Sheraz Daya so we took the train down south for my consultation in East Grinstead.
Dr. Daya was very cooperative and ready to get my eye sorted. At the operation, it was very easy with the anaesthetic, but on that day of my laser surgery, I personally found the procedure quite painful and my eye was sore. But after waking up the next day, I absolutely had no pain and had a remarkable improvement in my eye sight – it was total worth it!!!
I recommended Centre for Sight to my brother and aunt, and both got their vision corrected here. My vision improved along the way and till the time of my next follow-up, my vision was absolutely clear – quite dramatic!!!
The best part is not having to use the contact lenses, it is good for sports and swimming. Having to not think about it at all during the rains and while driving is the best part of it
I used to wear contact lenses before and it always made me feel tired, and as a I am looking to get back into fitness – this will help me drastically. I am looking forward to my new vision.”

I had LASIK treatment on both eyes 6 weeks ago and can honestly say that it has changed my life for the better. I now have 20/20 vision. The hospital and staff that attended me were all very professional and helpful - and if I have any problems whatsoever I can always contact them.

I had LASIK surgery by Mr Daya about a year ago and I can honestly say it was the best money I have ever spent, I had worn glasses all my life (with lenses as thick as milk bottles) I now have perfect vision and can read the bottom line on a sight chart!! I have seen adverts for other clinics offering cheaper surgery than Mr Daya, but when it comes to your eyes are you really looking to save money? my only regret is that I didn't have it done years ago.

I have just been for my 9/10 month check up with Mr Sheraz Daya and his team and to put it mildly both they and I are delighted with the results - I know have 6.3 and 6.4 vsision, this is regarded as 'super' vision and basically means that I can read the bottom line of the sight chart! To really put this into perpective, the optician had me try some 'glasses' which showed me exactly what I came in with last January - I could not believe that I had really been that blind! I cannot remember my precise prescription but it was nearly 5 in one eye and 4 in the other, with very severe astigmatism. I noticed the comments from Trevor about lack of entries against CfS and this also surprises me as I know how many operations Mr Daya has performed. I can only assume that CfS are not as commercially active as some of the other clinics - they certainly do not advertise in FHM or Cosmo! Remember when you are going to CfS you are going to one of this countries leading eye hospitals which has a world renowned reputation. Reading the comments from many of the other clinics entries on this site, there seems to be a high proportion of pain, discomfort, dryness and general concern from patients even though they give very high scores. I experienced none of this and most importantly I knew that there was someone at the end of a phone line and a hospital I could visit at any time if I had any problems/concerns. I genuinely cannot recommend the procedure, CfS, Mr Daya and his entire support team enough. They are certainly not the cheapest around, in fact I have been shocked by some of the prices I have seen advertised in 'lifestyle' magazines. However, I cannot think of a more important medical procedure than having your eyes cut open and to look for somewhere to have this done that is not attached to a very well established and competent medical facility seems naive in the extreme. If you are considering LASIK, I urge you to find the money and go and see CfS as soon as possible! I am happy to share my experiences further with anyone who wishes to contact me by e-mail.

If you are considering LASIK treatment I cannot recommend CfS more strongly. Yes they are more expensive, but Mr Daya is a world class surgeon and his team are fantastic. I felt totally confident in him and I believe he would give a really honest opinion if one's eyes are not suitable for this treatment (in particular the size of iris and curvature of cornea) I am about to go for my nine month check up and have had no discomfort at all other than a mild dryness right at the beginning.

After just one month with my new vision, I still cannot believe that my long sightedness has been totally cured. Having worn glasses since the age of 3, (I am now in my forties) I have found the treatment totally life changing and a miracle cure that I never thought would be possible. The results are instant, and painless (except for when it comes to paying of course!). I could not recommend the treatment highly enough, and the place to have LASIK treatment has to be The Centre for Sight. Their expertise is second to none and I would not have trusted any other clinic with my precious eyesight.

I had major problems from having LASIK at Maxivision and they sent me to Mr Daya. I cannot recommend him enough, very professional and to the point. At Maxivision it was like a production line. Not here. I felt comfortable even though having a really long operation and was able to speak directly to Mr Daya even at 1 am in the morning when I had some discomfort. If you are thinking of LASIK go to this clinic as they fix problems other centres create so you know you are good hands

All of the staff were excellent. The equipment and location also seemed excellent. I am glad that I spent a bit more than the average, as I feel I got what I paid for.

Just had Lasik performed by Mr Daya, I now have 20/15 vision in both eyes which is fantastic. No discomfort during operation at all and it's over before you know it. It's more money but not one person including myself thought that was an issue once you've been treated by Mr Daya. Having one of the countries leading surgeons treating you was pretty re-assuring I have to say. The next day I was up and about and back to normal save a few eye drops throughout the day. They do look after you here, the fact that surgeries elsewhere that go wrong get referred to Mr Daya tells you just about all you need to know.

Had LASIK performed 20 Jan 2003. My prescription was about –6 in both eyes with –0.5 astigmatism. Pupil size about 7mm. I referred myself after lots of research and a couple of visits to other clinics. I’d been thinking about it since about 1998 (when I first heard about ‘flap and zap’). Considered Wavefront (Zyoptix) and had long discussion with Mr Daya about pros and cons. It seems that the re-treatment rates are much higher with Wavefront and that Centre for Sight are carrying out very few of these treatments now because the results without it are so good. I had the Wavefront measurements taken but turned out to have only very slight aberrations and so decided against Wavefront. The results of the treatment are fantastic. No pain after a few hours (I was happily watching TV the evening of my treatment - treated at about midday). Had a nap in the car on the way home and for a couple of hours afterwards which I thoroughly recommend not least because it is so boring trying to keep your eyes shut to prevent watering. Woke up with no pain and pretty good vision. Check up next day indicated 20/20+ vision (which is as good as my corrected vision ever was before). A week or so on, and I have no pain, dry eyes or night vision problems (being pessimistic/cautious by nature I assumed I’d get at least one of these) and vision seems as good as ever – 1 month check-up will no doubt tell me more. As to the people, all staff the I’ve met are friendly and enthusiastic and at least one has had the treatment herself. Mr Daya was totally reassuring and I had no difficulty in placing absolute trust in him. I do have a couple of minor gripes:- 1.At every appointment, (1 in Harley St., 3 in East Grinstead) I was seen much later than my appointed time – so don’t go there in a hurry. 2.The glasses you have to wear at night for six weeks are very uncomfortable ( I wake up with deep ridges in my cheeks which are still visible at lunchtime). I’ve got to find an alternative to last the six weeks! As I say, minor gripes given the results. Would I recommend the treatment at Centre for Sight? – absolutely yes!
