Before surgery my vision was -8 and therefore I couldn’t read a book, or see facial expressions etc without using my glasses. I would definitely recommend Centre for Sight. I’d dwelt on surgery for 10 years since my initial ...Read more

1. Review of Centre for Sight Clinic

Centre for Sight is a long-standing and renowned eye surgery clinic, with three practices in London, Surrey and West Sussex. Its leading consultant eye surgeon, Mr Sheraz Daya, founded the clinic way back in 1996 with a clear mission: provide exemplary eye care to patients in facilities that are purpose-built with their needs in mind.

What makes Centre for Sight different? Centre for Sight is based on Mr Daya’s vision that better surroundings can provide a higher standard of care. Today patients get to enjoy a spa-like or luxury hotel experience, rather than the dread of most hospital surgeries.

Is there anything else I should know? As you’d expect then, this clinic also comes with the price tag that accompanies a five-star experience. Yes, the facilities are kitted out with high-end diagnostic tech and quality lenses, backed up by a team of highly trained staff. But you leave all the fancy atmosphere behind the moment you step outside the clinic, and it won’t be a priority for everyone.

3. Centre for Sight Prices

On average, 723 patients told Lasik Eyes they paid between £2,400 and £3,615 per eye for laser eye and lens replacement surgery at Centre for Sight since 2002. These costs are slightly above the average price range of £1,789 and £3,152 – high street clinics such as Optical Express and Ultralase were the cheapest places we found.

Here are the fixed costs of eye surgery at Centre for Sight:

  • Laser eye surgery cost: £2,300 per eye (from £77 per month)
  • IntraLASIK Supracor cost: £2,575 per eye (from £86 per month)
  • Implantable contact lens cost: £2,975 per eye (from £85 per month)
  • Implantable contact lens cost (toric lenses): £3,450 per eye (from £93 per month)
  • Cataract surgery cost (monofocal): £2,975 – £3,575 per eye (from £94 per month)
  • Cataract surgery cost (multifocal): £2,975 – £3,575 per eye (from £94 per month)

Your costs will include: a free consultation (for laser surgery), the full cost of the procedure, a 24-hour service line, and aftercare for one year after treatment. Laser eye surgery consultations are free, but lens replacement surgery assessments cost £295.

Centre for Sight also provides interest free pay monthly finance options over a generous 24 months – with some clinics, you’ll be paying 11% APR after the first year. As with most clinics, there’s a deposit of £500 to secure the surgery, but this cost comes off the total cost.

I have been considering laser surgery for a number of years and had one consultation at another practice known for accepting patients that others would turn away. They passed me for surgery and told me I had thinnish corneas but that wouldn't be a problem as I could expect a favourable outcome. Yesterday I went to Centre for Sight for a second opinion - and thank heavens I did!! I was diagnosed as having very thin corneas and that laser surgery would be very risky. To the point in fact that I could develop serious eye problems. Another option was Artisan lenses but, unfortunately, the corneal endothelium - the layer of cells at the back of cornea - did not contain enouigh cells to perform this op. So, for me, a very disappointing result. I am grateful to Mr Daya for the professionalism and expertise (and his staff) and would advise anyone considering going for laser surgery to go to the experts at Centre for Sight.

Having had the Herpes Virus three times in my right eye, the first time when I was 18, (I am now 57) I was declared a hopeless case when it came to Laser Eye Surgery. I had been left with scarring in my eye due to it having been cauterised to remove what was a cold sore in my eye.( Nowadays they use drugs) this left me with two very different eyes, the left was short sighted and the right eye was long sighted with scarring which had caused double vision. I managed for many years with contact lenses, but in recent years I was having various problems, including dry stinging eyes and also having to pay a small fortune for bi-focal lenses. It was actually breaking one of these very expensive lenses that eventually made me take the plunge. I had recently read an article in a newspaper that The Centre for Sight had an excellent track record on treating awkward cases like mine and decided that I’d give it a go. Why did I not make this decision years ago, I had my surgery on the 4th August achieving near perfect vision almost immediately. I wakened up the next day and was amazed at being able to see so perfectly, I was also able to tackle the long journey to CFS on my own without any problem. I am absolutely thrilled at the new world that has opened up for me; it is like I have had my lights switched after being in the dark for years. Mr Daya and his whole team were very professional and caring, nothing being too much trouble for anyone especially Linda and Natasha. Linda actually phoned me at eight o’clock on the evening of my surgery to see how I was doing (She had been at work from 8:30 that morning) Thank you everyone at Centre for Sight. *** Editors Comment *** It is great to learn of this excellent outcome in an abnormally shaped cornea. Linda Howels has obtained a good visual outcome with no sequelae from her underlying condition. Mr. Daya is a corneal specialist and has the expertise to deal with this type of condition. He was obviously comfortable in treating this lady with Zyoptix wavefront. She has had to be treated with specific medications pre and postoperatively and her treatment was certainly not a regular “run of the mill” Lasik procedure. After some discussion, with Mr. Daya, and Linda Howels, we felt it would be appropriate and in the interest of browsers to indicate that Herpes simplex is a relative (not absolute) contraindication to Laser vision correction and treatment only be conducted in certain circumstances – please inform your surgeon if you have ever had Herpes simplex virus affect your eye before embarking on treatment.

From being very short sighted and wary about how good the effect would be I am very impressed as I now have 20-20 vision after surgery. I would highly recommend the surgery to anyone as it was painless and has certainly changed my life and am now glasses and contact lens free. I would like to thank everyone as it has been wonderful as also they have been.

I have suffered with poor eyesight in excess of 20 years and relied solely on contact lenses for the past 15 years. I became embarrassed when wearing glasses due to the strength of the lenses. This has been re-confirmed during the last 3 weeks by having to wear glasses again before surgery. 24 hours post surgery I feel tentative but can see clearly which is wonderful. all the staff and surgeon Mr Giledi, were fabulous, especially Carolina who was caring, knowledgeable and very courteous. Thank you all very much.
