1. Review of AccuVision Laser Eye Clinic

Established in 2001, AccuVision is a popular destination for people seeking quality, affordable laser eye surgery. This clinic currently operates in five cities nationwide: London, Birmingham, Leeds, Bristol and Newcastle, and has performed over 40,000 treatments and counting.

What did independent inspectors find? According to the CQC’s latest report, there were no complaints between August 2016 and September 2017 from 1,011 refractive eye procedures carried out at AccuVision.

Is there anything else I should know? Most of the eye surgeons on our site enjoy five-star ratings, and the same is true for AccuVision. But it’s worth noting we only have 10 reviews for Dr Prashant Jindal.

Patients always want to find an ophthalmologist they feel comfortable with. That’s why it’s always a good idea to do your own research by trying to meet with your surgeon at an initial consultation, and many clinics offer these for free.

2. AccuVision Treatments

As well as common laser vision correction treatments – such as LASEK and LASIK with ultra-accurate Wavefront diagnostics – AccuVision also offers lens replacement surgery, including the UK’s most common surgical procedure: cataract surgery.

  1. LASIK eye surgery
  2. Trans-Epithelial Surface Treatment
  3. Lens replacement surgery
  4. ICL surgery (implantable contact lenses)
  5. Cataract surgery
  6. Amblyopia (lazy eye treatment)

So is it safe? AccuVision promises highly sophisticated, automated devices, with world-class Wavefront technology and the Alcon WaveLight EX500 Excimer laser. According to the clinic’s own study of 500 patients, everyone achieved at least driving standard vision following surgery (including repeat surgery).

3. AccuVision Laser Eye Clinic Prices

AccuVision’s prices are reasonable rates in laser eye surgery. On average, 800 patients told Lasik Eyes they paid £1,200 (per eye) for laser eye surgery, and £3,615 (per eye) for lens replacement surgery (including cataract surgery) – few clinics have lower starting prices.

AccuVision doesn’t publish a fixed price list, but here are the costs you can expect for the most popular eye surgeries:

  • Consultation Price: Free for initial consultation
  • LASIK Price: Average cost £2,400 for both eyes
  • Trans-Epi Price: Average cost £2,400 for both eyes
  • C3R Treatment Price: Average cost £2,000 per eye

Here’s how these prices compare to the eye surgery quotes offered by other clinics:

TreatmentOptical Express Cost (per eye)Optegra Cost (per eye)Optimax Cost (per eye)Centre for Sight Cost (per eye)
LASIK / LASEKFrom £595£1,795£1,695£2,400
Cataract SurgeryFrom £3,195£2,495£2,995From £3,150
ICL SurgeryFrom £3,395£3,495£2,495£3,615

Eye surgery isn’t an insignificant cost for most people. That’s why AccuVision offers a 10 month finance option, which lets you spread the costs of surgery after the initial deposit into smaller monthly fees. You will need to pass a credit check with Hitachi Capital to gain approval for this payment plan.

That said, most clinics provide finance plans for much longer – up to three years, and also team up with health insurers who may cover at least some of the costs of the surgery (which AccuVision doesn’t).

I just had my 3 month check up and my vision is absolutely perfect with no side effects at all. I have huge pupils and so I would have been prone to poor night vision without the wave front technology. I initially had halo's at night on bright lights for a couple of months but that has all cleared up now. The entire team have been informative and friendly and I was particularly impressed by the fact that at no time did I feel I was been given the hard sell. The results are better than I had ever imagined, thanks to everyone at Accuvision.

Just thought I'd add an update following my previous posting a few days after my lasik surgery. I was initially concerned because my right eye was perfect and my left eye was slightly blurred. I've had my six week check up today and am glad and relieved to report that my left eye is improving. Immediately post op I was L +1.00 R 0.0 I've just had my six month checkup and my left eye is now +0.5 and my right eye is 0. my overall vision is 20/15. I still have halos and glare when driving at night but I was told this would continue to improve. I've been really impressed with Accuvision and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. Please email me if you would like to ask any questions about my experience. Ian

I had considered laser eye correction for a while now and after extensive research came to the conclusion that Accuvision should be on my shortlist of clinics. There were many reasons; Chad Rostrons' (the surgeon)impressive CV, the fact that they use the Wavelight laser which has outperformed everything else in the FDA clinical trials and they charge a fair price for all this expertise. Anyway, my consultation with Vikash didn't disappoint and Mr. Rostron was excellent. My results are beyond my wildest dreams: 20/15 vision with each eye and pushing 20/10 with both. Aftercare has also been brilliant and it seems that nothing is too much trouble for the Accuvision team. A BIG THANK YOU!

My life has truly been changed overnight and I can't believe I have endured hideous glasses for 16 years and contact lenses for the past 30 years. All efforts in the past to have laser surgery were dismissed by my optician on the grounds that my eye sight was too poor (+8 prescription and stigmatism) and it was only through recommendation that I made contact with Accuvision. From the initial consultation to my laser treatment they could not have been more helpful or re-assuring. The procedure was totally painless though I'm glad I was one of those people who didn't want to know the details of what they were going to do!! At worst my eyes were sort for a day or so but a couple of days later I could see... and I keep reminding everyone so! The worst part for me was wearing those glasses for 3 weeks before surgery (as you are not allowed to wear hard contact lenses) But it was worth every minute. I can't thank you engough.

I had lasik surgery before back in the day when it had pretty much just started out. Over the years my eayes had started deteriorating a bit and I was forced to wear spectacles again. I decided to try Accuvision firstly because trying to get in contact with anyone from Optimax was worse than having teeth pulled. Getting an appointment at Accuvision was easy and hassle-free. From there things only got better. Because of my previous lasik surgery, my case was not not a straight-forward one - but everything went perfectly!! The staff are friendly, helpful, professional and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone considering lasik surgery; whether it's your first time or like me your second. Thank you to all the staff at Accuvision for everything.

Having worn glasses/contact lenses for 15 years I decided that i would look into having laser eye surgery done. Having been to a consultation at Ultralase and one at Accuvision I decided that Accuvision seemed more informative and you were given a lot more personal attention. I had my surgery done on Tuesday 6 September at Solihull and I can honestly say things could not of gone any better. Surgery itself was painless but strange as you were aware of something going on but it did not hurt one bit. Throughout the surgery you were advised every step of the way as to what was happening or what was going to happen next. My eyes watered for a couple of hours after but by the evening I could not believe how much I could see and no pain at all. At my follow up appointment the day after my eyes were checked and I was told that I had 20/20 vision and the flap was healing superbly. Three days after surgery and things are still brilliant, it is nice to open your eyes in the morning and be able to see. I am glad I decided to go for laser eye surgery, the only thing I regret is not having it done sooner.

I had laser eye surgery on April 20th 2005. Let me admit at the outset that I am one of life's worriers. I reasearched Laser eye surgery for over two years following an initial consultation with Ultralase in London, and I mean RESEARCHED!! I was in two minds - I wanted it done, but didn't really think I could trust anyone to slice into my eyes. When I met Nick Dash at Accuvision, Solihull I was incredibly impressed by his obvious knowledge, experience and genuine continued interest in Laser surgery. He very thoroughly answered all of my questions (I was there for a LONG time) and showed me the operating room which helped remove some of the mystery/fear of the unknown. I left with his email address for further questions. I also saw the CV of the surgeon who would be performing the surgery - Dr. Jyotin Pandit. I have large pupils and had learnt early on that I should have wavefront treatment and boy am I glad I did. I was offered ordinary laser eye surgery for much cheaper (£1200) by a company who said my pupils weren't large by their standards. As many others have said on this site money shouldn't really come into this decision. I willingly (and this is someone who is generally financially cautious!) paid £2000 to Accuvision. I wasn't buying a pair of shoes. I didn't want to be treated with archaic technology, wanted the best possible outcome and professional, intelligent and sensitive staff to treat me. Before I decided to go ahead with the surgery I read a sensible review from a guy on this site who like me was delighted with his new perfect vision. However, he added with it a word of caution that you cannot guarantee anything and that is exactly how I feel now. I would hate for someone to read this review and solely on the basis of my experience be influenced to decide to have it done. See, I told you I was one of life's worriers!:) In my case I looked at the statistics on the web of what can go wrong and had to choose that I wanted to give it a try (I've been blessed with a very smart mentor-type of father who encouraged me by saying "Hey, with those odds I'd bet the farm!). Accuvision seemed good and indeed they are. Links that I particularly remember as useful were www.nurseowens.clara.net/lasik_diary.htm for a description of a personal experience of surgery and for statistics and risk http://www.londonvisionclinic.com/process_risks.html . My prescription before was -2.75 & -3.75 with significant astigmatism. I now have almost 200% vision! Good luck.

05 Sep 2005

After reading some testimonals on the Accuvision website and following research of other clinics, I decided to go ahead and have a consultation for laser eye surgery with Accuvision. I had my consultation on Friday 26th August and happily was told I was suitable for treatment. Bearing in mind my prescription was +5.25 left eye and +5.00 right eye I was not overly optimistic I would be accepted. I booked my surgery day for last Wednesday 31st August. I can honestly say that the whole experience was totally painless and all the staff were very helpful and willing to discuss any questions and worries. I only had slight gritty feeling on the actual day and woke up the following morning with brilliant vision. I could even see the GMTV clock! I went for the first checkup on day 2 and had excellent vision, even able to do the crossword on the train. It has been getting better and clearer each day and I cant for my weekly checkup on Thursday. I will update the entry. All those "thinking" about it, go for it. I just wish I had done it years ago.

I was 2.25 short sighted in both eyes. Had operation (wave-front) on 4.08.05 after feeling very confident with the very thorough and professional eye examination prior. The operation itself was not painful, I was made to feel very safe by the team and was pleased to be accompanied in the room by 5 staff all together. Though it is totally painless, I only felt anxious at the process about to take place, but was made to feel calm and safe by the surgeon who contiously explained what was happening and what he was going to do next. Once over, I was thanked by the surgeon and team for "trusting them with my eyes". All went perfectly, they said and I was very happy. I waited, took the drops and was advised to keep my eyes closed and rest. Before I left, I sarted feeling a shart scratch-like pain in one eye, but was told this will pass. Indeed, when I got home, i could not open my eyes, they were very watery, sore, and I was in quite some pain for about 6 hours after. The pain was similar to someone scratching the eyeball with a pin. This was the only thing I experience which I did not expect to, as most others reported only feeling uncomfortable or gritty sensations. I did not, they really were sharp pains. They would come and go, sharply every 10-25 mins or so. The next day, the contacts were taken off and after the check-up I was told my eyes were perfect. The amazing thing was that every day my vision got better and better. The blurriness went, the pain dissappeared and a week later I was very pleased to read 20-15! I cannot stress the professionalism and friendliness of the whole team at the Fulham site. Absolutely fantastic.Thank you, you have changed my life. I CAN SEE!!! A month on, and my eyes do not feel dry at all, I do not have trouble with lights when I drive at night or at any other time, which I understand can be quite common. So I feel very lucky that I have not experienced this, bar the first few days after the operation. I recommend Accuvision highly and thank them warmly for all their care. Mirona Istrate.

I had my surgery on 28th April 2005 (some time ago now), and can say now that time has past, that I have the same opinion now that I had the day after surgery: The best thing I could have spent money on! It's easy to forget how much of an inconvenience wearing glasses was. I sat down to watch telly the other night and even after all this time I had an urge to reach out for them. It's just such a relief not to have to bother with them anymore. I love swimming, whether it's in the sea or local pool, and now I have 20-15 vision I find that I am going more often. This is all down to Accuvision. I admit I went to them with the only recommendation being a magazine article, so from that point of view I was taking a risk. But after seeing how professional they are at my consultation I knew that I could trust them. In particular, my consultant Vik Patel was excellent. He was very calming, reassuring and explained everything to the last detail. So if you are considering whether it is a good idea to go through with this proceedure, go and see Accuvision and they put your mind at rest. And lastly, if you are thinking about going to a cheaper 'back ally' clinic to have this done, remember a quote from the magazine article I read: 'Save money on clothes and shoes, not eye surgery'.
