1. Review of AccuVision Laser Eye Clinic

Established in 2001, AccuVision is a popular destination for people seeking quality, affordable laser eye surgery. This clinic currently operates in five cities nationwide: London, Birmingham, Leeds, Bristol and Newcastle, and has performed over 40,000 treatments and counting.

What did independent inspectors find? According to the CQC’s latest report, there were no complaints between August 2016 and September 2017 from 1,011 refractive eye procedures carried out at AccuVision.

Is there anything else I should know? Most of the eye surgeons on our site enjoy five-star ratings, and the same is true for AccuVision. But it’s worth noting we only have 10 reviews for Dr Prashant Jindal.

Patients always want to find an ophthalmologist they feel comfortable with. That’s why it’s always a good idea to do your own research by trying to meet with your surgeon at an initial consultation, and many clinics offer these for free.

2. AccuVision Treatments

As well as common laser vision correction treatments – such as LASEK and LASIK with ultra-accurate Wavefront diagnostics – AccuVision also offers lens replacement surgery, including the UK’s most common surgical procedure: cataract surgery.

  1. LASIK eye surgery
  2. Trans-Epithelial Surface Treatment
  3. Lens replacement surgery
  4. ICL surgery (implantable contact lenses)
  5. Cataract surgery
  6. Amblyopia (lazy eye treatment)

So is it safe? AccuVision promises highly sophisticated, automated devices, with world-class Wavefront technology and the Alcon WaveLight EX500 Excimer laser. According to the clinic’s own study of 500 patients, everyone achieved at least driving standard vision following surgery (including repeat surgery).

3. AccuVision Laser Eye Clinic Prices

AccuVision’s prices are reasonable rates in laser eye surgery. On average, 800 patients told Lasik Eyes they paid £1,200 (per eye) for laser eye surgery, and £3,615 (per eye) for lens replacement surgery (including cataract surgery) – few clinics have lower starting prices.

AccuVision doesn’t publish a fixed price list, but here are the costs you can expect for the most popular eye surgeries:

  • Consultation Price: Free for initial consultation
  • LASIK Price: Average cost £2,400 for both eyes
  • Trans-Epi Price: Average cost £2,400 for both eyes
  • C3R Treatment Price: Average cost £2,000 per eye

Here’s how these prices compare to the eye surgery quotes offered by other clinics:

TreatmentOptical Express Cost (per eye)Optegra Cost (per eye)Optimax Cost (per eye)Centre for Sight Cost (per eye)
LASIK / LASEKFrom £595£1,795£1,695£2,400
Cataract SurgeryFrom £3,195£2,495£2,995From £3,150
ICL SurgeryFrom £3,395£3,495£2,495£3,615

Eye surgery isn’t an insignificant cost for most people. That’s why AccuVision offers a 10 month finance option, which lets you spread the costs of surgery after the initial deposit into smaller monthly fees. You will need to pass a credit check with Hitachi Capital to gain approval for this payment plan.

That said, most clinics provide finance plans for much longer – up to three years, and also team up with health insurers who may cover at least some of the costs of the surgery (which AccuVision doesn’t).

I had consultations with Optical Express and Ultralase prior to visiting the Solihull Accuvision clinic. OE were competent enough, but still left me with the whole feeling of being on a conveyor belt and whilst I couldn't overly fault them I didn't really have the confidence to go ahead with them. Ultralase were just appallingly inefficient at the consultation and I had no desire to go to them for treatment. I was on the point of just not bothering and having a new bathroom suite with the money instead when I did one final trawl of the internet and found Accuvision. Solihull is really close to me so I gave them a call and they fitted me in the next morning for a consultation. As soon as I walked through the door I just felt so much happier, it was more intimate, personal and relaxed. Had my consultation with Nick who was very thorough and professional and explained absolutely everything to me in so much more detail than either of the others had. I just felt totally reassured by him and believed in what he was telling me, at no point did I feel he was after a sale, he just told me what my eyes were, what they needed and what it would cost. An hour later and I was booking my treatment for the following week. The day of surgery and I was really nervous, but very reassured when I got there to see a few people already recovering. The surgery team were fantastic, talked me all the way through the procedure, which wasn't painful or uncomfortable, just rather odd. Within an hour of being there I was on my way back home reading out number plates, much to the irritation of my family after ten minutes *g*. I wasn't one of those who opened their eyes and saw everything crystal clear from the start, my eyes just gradually got better and better over the next 24 hours. By the next morning I was driving, although there was still a slight blurriness at the edge of my vision, but within two days everything had become crystal clear. Over the next three weeks my eyes have just got better and better and I now have better than 20/20 vision, I haven't' seen this well for over 25 years. I can't give enough praise to the clinic, they have been everything I could want or expect. Before having surgery I very wrongly thought that one of the big three would be the way to go, how very wrong I was. This may have been a small clinic, but it was so much more personal and reassuring and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

I have just had my second cross-linking treatment for my Keratoconus and thought I would share my experience, especially as cross-linking is quite a new procedure. I was diagnosed with Keratoconus by my High Street Optician - from this point I spent a lot of time (as many of us do) researching what it meant on the internet. As I had been diagnosed at an early stage I was keen to look at some of the processes that intended to prevent the keratoconus getting worse. After reading up - i had to appreciate that any process would not give me 'perfect vision' but the emphasis is on arresting the progression of the coning. I found a few places that offered Cross Linking - I was attracted by the concept of the procedure and the fact that the procedure was done while I was awake and was a quick process. I ended up going to Accuvision in Fulham. I live in Hampshire so I had to make quite a few trips up to London - but it was worth it. Everyone at Accuvision was fantastic. The pre op, op and post op care was faultless. This daunting treatment was explained every step of the way and the surgeons talk you through the process as it happens (which lasted about an hour all-in-all). The op itself is totally painless. The most discomfort I had was in the first night, with the eye being quite sore. But eye drops and pain killers help with this and from the second night onwards I had not trouble sleeping. I had my left eye done in November and that has been a massive success. The vision has stabilised and I can now only need a weak prescription for that eye. I am now waiting for my right eye to settle down before I get my final prescription. Thank you Accuvision. This treatment has undoubtedly improved my quality of life.

Before the treatment I was - 2.25 and -2.75 and had a slight astigmatism in one eye. I received the treatment yesterday in the Solihull clinic and today I have 20/15 vision (better than 20/20). I originally went to another clinic but I came out very disappointed as they gave me 3 options, completely confused me with technology and basically said what treatment I received was down to my budget !! I spoke to a friend of mine who had his eyes corrected in January with Accuvision and he recommended them. I booked in for the following day and the consultation was very friendly, extremely professional and the Surgeon explained what treatment would work for me, he then showed me on the screens what I needed and more importantly what he recommended. On the day of the treatment I was slightly nervous but the surgery team were excellent. They explained what was happening, what I should expect and completely put me at ease. I left the clinic and I suffered no discomfort at all. I could see brilliantly the same day but I was very careful not too get carried away and I followed their instructions. Today I have had my follow up consultation and once again they were extremely friendly and professional, I couldn’t be happier with the results. It all seems too easy, no pain at all, I wish I had it done years ago.

this treatment is done at home on a computer 3 times a week with a visit back to the clinic once a month.i have an amblyopic (lazy) left eye which cannot be corrected with laser surgery of any type.i was due a medical for my job(tanker driver)and needed a visual acuity of at least 6/12 in the weaker eye(new eu guidelines).if the treatment hadn't worked i would have lost my licence and therefore my job and probably my house.thankfully after 3months of treatment i had succeeded in improving from 6/18 to 6/12 in fact i am bordering on 6/9.considering most opticians will tell you that a lazy eye cannot be improved i am thrilled with the results which are also meant to be permanent.i would definitely recommend the clinic and the treatment.i can now undergo permanent lens treatment to rid myself of glasses and am considering this option for the future with Accuvision of course!

I had Wavefront Lasik performed at Accuvision in Solihull (near Birmingham) on 15/04/2008. The Clinic is easy to get to and is just a couple of miles off Junction 5 of the M42. My prescription was -2.50 both eyes. I chose Accuvision because all the feedback I had read on various forums was always positive. I had my consultation on 07/04/2008. It was very comprehensive and everything about the surgery was explained to me. I had my surgery on 15/04/2008 and it was a doddle. I had no pain during or after surgery (it’s easier than going to the dentist !). The thought of the surgery is a hundred times worse than the surgery itself. I have just been for my 1 week check up and I have 20:20 vision. This is the best money I have ever spent and would recommend Accuvision at Solihull. I, like many other people, have thought “why didn’t I do this sooner”.

Treatment at Accuvision, Parsons Green. Excellent service, having had vision correction done before at Optimax, the service that I got from Accuvision far exceeds that elsewhere. Accuvision were able to correct my vision to almost perfection which Optimax was unable to do. After-care service is second to none. Vikash Patel, my optometrist made the whole experience absolutely hassle-free and easy. Definitely recommend to others thinking about vision correction. Well done! :-)

One week after my surgery I have excellent vision. I am aware that there may be fluctuations because accuvision have been open and honest about the possibilities but I’m delighted so far. The staff were friendly and supportive throughout the proceedure and the level of care and service is outstanding. As the second person in my family to have successful surgery I will be recommending to anyone interested in lazer eye surgery that they approach accuvision for assessment. I travelled from Norfolk to have my treatment and it was worth the inconvenience of travelling to know that I would be treated by experts.

Achieved an excellent result!!! Better than I expected. Having suffered with poor vision for many years, I can now see better than I did as a teenager. I only wish that I had laser surgery earlier and not delayed. Accuvisions' staff have been wonderful, explaining the procedure clearly. Thank you to all the staff

My prescription was fairly unusual, with an astigmatism of -0.5 (I think that is right!) and now I have 20 / 20 vision. Great result, considering the serious astigmatism I had. Not only did this surgery convince me they had the industry leading equipment, they had the cheek to be £1100 cheaper than their competitors. (I would never advise picking a surgery on price alone, as you really are looking for the best result!) Go and see this bunch and you’ll wonder why you did not get it done sooner! Highly recommended!

I initially visited Accuvision earlier this year for an assessment. A friend had previously been treated there and highly recommended them. Prior to that I had visited one of the major High Street chains. After my experience in the High Street I was not positive regarding what the outcome of my visit to Accuvision might be. I could not have been more wrong! At the High Street chain I was greeted by a young lady who was to be my "mentor" throughout, taken by her into the clinic area above the opticians' shop, and after going through a few basics left to wait for the optician. When he arrived and took me into his room, he seemed more interested in telling me that he didn't really want to be there, but as they'd allowed him to bring his wife and family for the weekend, he'd agreed to do it. Then he complained that he'd had no lunch. In the circumstances, I really wanted to hear all of this! When he did eventually get around to the matter of the assessment, he quickly informed me that my left eye, which has been weak from birth, might not be suitable for laser treatment - and if it was treated it would be very expensive. Ultimately he pronounced that my left eye could not be treated, and he recommended that I make an appointment via my mentor to be assessed for lens implantation at their Harley Street clinic. When I asked what the cost of this would be, to say the least, his estimate was very expensive. The optician took me downstairs to the shop to look for the mentor, and it transpired that she had gone out to lunch. Another mentor told me that if I would like to wait for about 20 minutes, she may have time to deal with me. I left at that point, asking them to get my mentor to phone me the next working day to make the appointment. I am still waiting for her call! Thank goodness she couldn't be bothered! When I visited the Accuvision clinic, things could not have been more different. My faith in human nature was restored! The clinic itself is very professionally appointed, and all of the staff are very friendly and efficient. I immediately felt relaxed and in the hands of professionals. The optometrist put me through various tests, using modern computerised equipment. At every stage he explained what was happening and why. He told me that it WAS possible to have laser treatment, gave me the cost there and then (which was very good compared to the estimate received at the High Street chain), explained more about the treatment itself, and left me to decide if I wanted to go ahead. There was not any pressure. I was invited to go home and discuss the whole thing with my wife, and to give them a call if I wanted to go ahead. Needless to say I called to arrange for the treatment to take place. I am ecstatic at the results that were achieved. I was only at the clinic for a total of about an hour, of which the treatment itself took about 10 minutes. The rest was preparation time and after care. Again at every stage I received an explanation of what was happening, and I felt fully relaxed and in the hands of true professionals, who were very friendly throughout. During the treatment itself, I only felt what I can describe as a very slight vibration on each eye – and only for a few seconds in each case. There was absolutely no discomfort. That evening there was minor discomfort, but again very professionally, I was told in advance exactly what to expect, given drops for my eyes and told to rest them for the rest of the night. The next day it was amazing, the minor discomfort had gone. I went for a check up and already the sight in my previously better eye was perfect, even my other eye was almost perfect – that had not been the case since birth! As I write, it’s now just over a week since my treatment – and my vision is still improving by the day. I can even read without glasses now – which I certainly wasn’t expecting. Thank you to everyone at Accuvision for a very professional job extremely well done.
