1. Review of AccuVision Laser Eye Clinic
Established in 2001, AccuVision is a popular destination for people seeking quality, affordable laser eye surgery. This clinic currently operates in five cities nationwide: London, Birmingham, Leeds, Bristol and Newcastle, and has performed over 40,000 treatments and counting.
What did independent inspectors find? According to the CQC’s latest report, there were no complaints between August 2016 and September 2017 from 1,011 refractive eye procedures carried out at AccuVision.
Is there anything else I should know? Most of the eye surgeons on our site enjoy five-star ratings, and the same is true for AccuVision. But it’s worth noting we only have 10 reviews for Dr Prashant Jindal.
Patients always want to find an ophthalmologist they feel comfortable with. That’s why it’s always a good idea to do your own research by trying to meet with your surgeon at an initial consultation, and many clinics offer these for free.

2. AccuVision Treatments
As well as common laser vision correction treatments – such as LASEK and LASIK with ultra-accurate Wavefront diagnostics – AccuVision also offers lens replacement surgery, including the UK’s most common surgical procedure: cataract surgery.
- LASIK eye surgery
- Trans-Epithelial Surface Treatment
- Lens replacement surgery
- ICL surgery (implantable contact lenses)
- Cataract surgery
- Amblyopia (lazy eye treatment)
So is it safe? AccuVision promises highly sophisticated, automated devices, with world-class Wavefront technology and the Alcon WaveLight EX500 Excimer laser. According to the clinic’s own study of 500 patients, everyone achieved at least driving standard vision following surgery (including repeat surgery).
3. AccuVision Laser Eye Clinic Prices
AccuVision’s prices are reasonable rates in laser eye surgery. On average, 800 patients told Lasik Eyes they paid £1,200 (per eye) for laser eye surgery, and £3,615 (per eye) for lens replacement surgery (including cataract surgery) – few clinics have lower starting prices.
AccuVision doesn’t publish a fixed price list, but here are the costs you can expect for the most popular eye surgeries:
- Consultation Price: Free for initial consultation
- LASIK Price: Average cost £2,400 for both eyes
- Trans-Epi Price: Average cost £2,400 for both eyes
- C3R Treatment Price: Average cost £2,000 per eye
Here’s how these prices compare to the eye surgery quotes offered by other clinics:
Treatment | Optical Express Cost (per eye) | Optegra Cost (per eye) | Optimax Cost (per eye) | Centre for Sight Cost (per eye) |
---|---|---|---|---|
LASIK / LASEK | From £595 | £1,795 | £1,695 | £2,400 |
Cataract Surgery | From £3,195 | £2,495 | £2,995 | From £3,150 |
ICL Surgery | From £3,395 | £3,495 | £2,495 | £3,615 |
Eye surgery isn’t an insignificant cost for most people. That’s why AccuVision offers a 10 month finance option, which lets you spread the costs of surgery after the initial deposit into smaller monthly fees. You will need to pass a credit check with Hitachi Capital to gain approval for this payment plan.
That said, most clinics provide finance plans for much longer – up to three years, and also team up with health insurers who may cover at least some of the costs of the surgery (which AccuVision doesn’t).

I had my surgery in April 2008 and I have just been discharged from the Accuvision clinic in Solihull, Birmingham. I have 130% vision - better than 20/20!! I read lots of reviews on this site and also visited Ultralase before making my final decision. I just felt so at ease with the staff at Accuvision and I felt I could ask them anything and that they were very honest and open. At Ultralase it was almost as if they were repeating the exact same spiel over and over to the thousands who pass through their door. They also wouldn't stop calling me after the appointment. Accuvision don't apply any pressure whatsoever - they leave you to make your own mind up. I think that it's important to know for anyone considering surgery that it can take a while for your eyesight to recover and settle down. I certainly wasn't one of those that could step out of the clinic and immediately see across the road! My eyes were sensitive and my focus rather up and down for a fortnight or so, but I was able to return to work after a few days and was always closely monitored by the clinic. My night vision took several weeks longer as I had quite a lot of halo effect and ghosting so I wasn't comfortable driving at night. I was a bit concerned about this, but they assured me that this was normal. Four months on, it is much better. Accuvision in Solihull is a small clinic and they get their customers through recommendation not intense advertising like their larger competitors. The team are so friendly - especially Nick, and my results are fantastic so I cannot recommend them enough!

I had done a bit of research before deciding upon Accuvision in Fulham. They were very professional from start to finish. I am so pleased with the result. The process does not hurt at all and I took time to rest up after surgery (I suggest listening to some good podcasts!) but the next day I was out and about.
I went for Accuvision because they are very thorough and good value for wavefront tecnhology. While other firms do the flap procedure by laser, I had no problems because I took care after surgery which meant that the flap was completely stabilised the next day. I don’t think the laser flap is worth the money (double what I paid) if you have qualified proper surgeons like Accuvision has.

My prescription was R -3.75/-2.75 +180, L-5.50/-2.00 +180. I also had a stigmatism of -3 in one eye. My corneas were 4.8 microns. I was told by many laser clinics that I was a specialist case and that they were worried that they would not be able to guarantee that I would guarantee that they would be able to perform the surgery and leave me with more that 3 microns. Infact they said that I would only be left with the legal req of 2.5 microns.
I had a Trans-Epitherial Laser procedure at Accuvision. Dr Chad Rostron was my surgeon. Everything went well and I now have better than 20:20 vision. I do not have a precsiption in either eye, over 3 microns in both eyes and no dryness ! I have worn glasses for the past 20 years and always suffered from dry irritible eyes when wearing contact lenses. I love playing sports and swimming and so decided that I really needed to look into my options. 3 friends and a doctor personally recommended Accuvision. They patient care is outstanding and their ability to sense you nervousness and stress and be able to calm you down and you also your family is amazing. It almost feels like visiting family (that you like !!) They were not pushy about payment or forcing me to book an appointment. I attended a consultation where they detailed all my options and was the left with as much time as needed to decide what to do.
3 weeks have gone by now and the only aches and pains I have at the mo is from smiling all the time at being able to do anything, wear anything and enjoy the sunshine with my sunnies on ! I am able to read other peoples books on the tube over their shoulder !!
I researched via this website and through word of mouth and have many friends that are Optometrists. They all recommended Accuvision for their level of care and experience. I would recommend them to anyone. My advise is to definitely book in for a consultation and decide for yourself

7 days ago I was -4.75 with astigmatism in both eyes and large pupils. Today I have gone back for my one week check up to be told that I have no prescription whatsoever and have better than 20:20 vision. Furthermore I've been at work all week in front of my laptop (for 14 hours on Wednesday) and experienced no sight problems or discomfort at all! The surgery itself was unbelievably easy. Waiting in the waiting room beforehand I ought to have been worried, but it was impossible to be as every 15 mins someone emerged from the surgery room with an enormous smile on their face. Very reassuring. Then it was less than 20 mins from when I was called in to when I myself emerged. There was just no time to get worried. Personally if there's pain to be felt, I'll feel it. So when I read everyone else saying there's no pain I was a little doubting. But they were right, there really is none. In fact, the most pain I experienced was when I woke up the following morning and had to take off the eye shields which were stuck to my face using a type of tape. It was like removing a plaster. When choosing my clinic I had had no recommendations so they were all starting from an equal position. After reviewing this site I decided upon Accuvision or Optical Express (I also booked with Ultralase and Optimax but their appointments were not for a month and I was so sold after seeing Accuvision I booked the surgery for two weeks later. I had been considering surgery and been to see Ultralase 3 years ago so I didn't feel that I was rushing things but felt that I should go and see another clinic to be sure. Optical Express was booked for the following weekend so I decided to attend that appointment. We got off to a bad start when I turned up on time and then waited for 20 mins before going into my appointment and the staff were not particularly informative or apolgetic about it. My optician was very nice, although had to get some help working the first piece of test equipment as it was set to the wrong settings. I tried asking some questions about the surgery and laser that I had from my research but she was unable to answer properly and I got the impression she had her script and did not know enough to detour from it. After quoting me a price higher than Accuvision I was sat in the waiting room again before speaking to a 'Sales Counseller' who was basically a sales person. Accuvision do not offer Intralase. Optical Express do and think it's amazing. My sales lady proceeded to answer every question and argument I had for the microkeratome with 'But we are best. I can tell you Intralase is best'. that failed to convince me and instead annoyed me. I left knowing that I wanted to go with Accuvision as they had been so helpful, so knowledgeable and completely un-forceful. I felt totally relaxed at the Fulham branch, whereas the reading Optical Express branch left me feeling bothered and untrusting. However I knew I needed to look into the Intralase vs Microkeratome issue further. After much research I concluded that the two techniques are excellent in terms of risks etc. Both have slightly different risks i.e. flap complications (fixable) with the microkeratome or blade and increased light sensitivity and more suction on the eye with the Intralase. I decided that both would give excellent results and that I didn't want to pay an extra £1000 to go with Optical Express. So I phoned to cancel (I had put a deposit down to secure the coming Friday as I was being impatient) which took 4 phone calls. I had to speak to a sales counsellor again who pretty much told me that i would be stupid to not have intralase and made cancellation very difficult and stressful. Their basic technique is to not take no for an answer and eventually wear you down. Anyway. Accuvision have been amazing form the beginning. From having the phone answered by Joan (one of the optometrists) who was lovely and knowledgeable from the start. My consultation was then with her and as I said before she answered all my questions and seemed to know and understand what she was talking about. To conclude this long spiel (sorry it's so long!! but this site really helped me because of the level of information some people provided and I wanted to do the same). The procedure itself is amazing, and whether you go with the microkeratome or intralase the risks are very low (do some of your own research and decide whether you want to pay more for Intralase. The high street clinics sing it's praises but that's because it sounds better - who likes the idea of a man with a blade near your eye, although during surgery it looked just like a metal ring, not a blade - and they can charge you more for it. I did also conclude that I would probably have got excellent vision with most of the clinics, I went with Accuvision because they gave me the best feeling. And as everyone says, anyone with glasses should do this. There is NO reason not to. Finally, thanks to all at Accuvision; Optometrists Vik and Joan were so good, and my surgeons Dr's Prashant and Darius did an amazing job on the day. I went out in the rain today and and didn't get rain all over my glasses. Amazing!!

I choose to have laser eye surgery after much debating and research my consultation with Accuvision in Solihull was the third that I had. I liked the fact that the wavefront technology was offered as standard and the lesser treatment offered by other companies was not an option. I also liked the fact that there was no additional charge for the wavefront technology. The whole procedure from the first consultation to the post check-ups was made very easy and uncomplicated and the care I have received was excellent. My level of short sightedness was high but the results have been amazing and it has been worth every penny.

The internet is a wonderful tool for research. You really don't want to cut corners, especially when it comes to eye surgery, so forums and personal testimonials are invaluable in making the right decision. I've never taken the time to write one before, but my experience with Accuvision has changed all that. It was personal testimonials like this, along with my brothers recommendation that prompted me to go for a consultation. The Solihull branch had a relaxed, no pressure atmosphere, and they had plenty of time for me. Tests were done and all options explained. I also asked a lot of questions about other companies offering similar treatments, and their answers satisfied me that I was making the right choice. I booked my surgery 3 days later having had time to think about it, and 3 weeks later had it done. It's now 54hrs later and the results are amazing, I had 20/20 vision after 24hrs, and it's improving, giving clearer vision than with my lenses already. It may be a few hundred quid more than some other companies, but in my opinion it's money well worth spending.

Very impressed with Accuvision. I looked into about 4 different companies but went with Accuvision as they didn't push me into a decision. I felt in control in MY treatment. One company are still contacting me on almost a weekly basis trying to persuade me into spending my money with them. Accuvision are fantastic. From the moment you walk in they have your best interests/ vision at heart. I recommend them

I wish i had done this years ago. I did tons of research before having the treatment and in the end it was someone telling me 'it's become such a standard procedure now hasnt it?' and i thought - you know what they're right- and went for it. I've gone from a -7.5 to having better than 20/20 vision- unbelievable. I went for the accuvision clinics because a friend recommended them and i couldn't have had a better experience. I can confirm the procedure doesn't hurt and though the 24hrs afterwards are uncomfortable (feels a bit like when you've got an eyelash stuck in your eye- apart from more like there being 20 of them- and you arent allowed to rub them to stop it) your vision clears up over a week and after two it's fantastic. There are risks but they aren't high if you look after your eyes carefully for the first week. If you're thinking about it i say do it!

My brother is an Optician who explained me all the procedures that were involved with the laser eye treatment and after searching around he recommended me Accuvision. After the initial consultation at Solihull (on 17th July '08) I was in hurry to have the surgery done - due to my travel plans. The next available date for the surgery was 28th July and that would have been too late for me. But the good people at Accuvision managed to book me in for the next day! Next morning I had the surgery, both eyes probably took less than 10mins. All went very smooth and there was absolutely no pain what so ever. The whole team were very nice and friendly. The day after the surgery I went for the post surgery appointment where I was delighted to find out my vision had got better than 20/20. That was exceptional result within 24 hours! Thank you Accuvision for a wonderful job!

Opted for wavefront surgery after a lot of research and after a very thorough examination by Vic the surgery was booked in for Feb 07. The day of the Operation was different to the free consultation with lots of people waiting around. The first part of the procedure was to cut the flap and this went wrong. Apparently the eye naturally tries to move away when pressure is put on it by the suction clamp and the cut was in the wrong position. i was then told they would have to stop the procedure and that i could re-consider having surgery in 3 months. i was also told this happens in around 1 in 40 cases, although they later denied that was the case. All in all a horrible experience.
