1. Review of AccuVision Laser Eye Clinic

Established in 2001, AccuVision is a popular destination for people seeking quality, affordable laser eye surgery. This clinic currently operates in five cities nationwide: London, Birmingham, Leeds, Bristol and Newcastle, and has performed over 40,000 treatments and counting.

What did independent inspectors find? According to the CQC’s latest report, there were no complaints between August 2016 and September 2017 from 1,011 refractive eye procedures carried out at AccuVision.

Is there anything else I should know? Most of the eye surgeons on our site enjoy five-star ratings, and the same is true for AccuVision. But it’s worth noting we only have 10 reviews for Dr Prashant Jindal.

Patients always want to find an ophthalmologist they feel comfortable with. That’s why it’s always a good idea to do your own research by trying to meet with your surgeon at an initial consultation, and many clinics offer these for free.

2. AccuVision Treatments

As well as common laser vision correction treatments – such as LASEK and LASIK with ultra-accurate Wavefront diagnostics – AccuVision also offers lens replacement surgery, including the UK’s most common surgical procedure: cataract surgery.

  1. LASIK eye surgery
  2. Trans-Epithelial Surface Treatment
  3. Lens replacement surgery
  4. ICL surgery (implantable contact lenses)
  5. Cataract surgery
  6. Amblyopia (lazy eye treatment)

So is it safe? AccuVision promises highly sophisticated, automated devices, with world-class Wavefront technology and the Alcon WaveLight EX500 Excimer laser. According to the clinic’s own study of 500 patients, everyone achieved at least driving standard vision following surgery (including repeat surgery).

3. AccuVision Laser Eye Clinic Prices

AccuVision’s prices are reasonable rates in laser eye surgery. On average, 800 patients told Lasik Eyes they paid £1,200 (per eye) for laser eye surgery, and £3,615 (per eye) for lens replacement surgery (including cataract surgery) – few clinics have lower starting prices.

AccuVision doesn’t publish a fixed price list, but here are the costs you can expect for the most popular eye surgeries:

  • Consultation Price: Free for initial consultation
  • LASIK Price: Average cost £2,400 for both eyes
  • Trans-Epi Price: Average cost £2,400 for both eyes
  • C3R Treatment Price: Average cost £2,000 per eye

Here’s how these prices compare to the eye surgery quotes offered by other clinics:

TreatmentOptical Express Cost (per eye)Optegra Cost (per eye)Optimax Cost (per eye)Centre for Sight Cost (per eye)
LASIK / LASEKFrom £595£1,795£1,695£2,400
Cataract SurgeryFrom £3,195£2,495£2,995From £3,150
ICL SurgeryFrom £3,395£3,495£2,495£3,615

Eye surgery isn’t an insignificant cost for most people. That’s why AccuVision offers a 10 month finance option, which lets you spread the costs of surgery after the initial deposit into smaller monthly fees. You will need to pass a credit check with Hitachi Capital to gain approval for this payment plan.

That said, most clinics provide finance plans for much longer – up to three years, and also team up with health insurers who may cover at least some of the costs of the surgery (which AccuVision doesn’t).

Not being one to rush into things, I've left it a while before posting this feedback. I visited two providers in January 2008. One (well known and heavily advertised) did not impress me and seemed to be concerned with the hard sell. Accuvision did impress me, but the cutting of the flap bit of Lasik put me off (I have been a Moorfields patient for many years but had never had any invasive treatment). Finally, six months later I returned, and had the treatment. This was after taking advice from various sources and speaking with Accuvision staff, all of whom were, are, excellent. The treatment was quick and entirely painless. Indeed, it was fascinating. All over in what seemed like 10 minutes. Minus 6 plus astigmatism cured. I see very well without correction but need readers (to be expected when you are my age). This is absolutely no inconvenience. I had worn specs or contact lenses since I was 13. The liberation is fantastic. I can swim and see where I am going, and easily wear sunglasses without complicated prescriptions. It has made an incredible difference to my life and self image, something people with similarly high prescriptions will understand, I'm sure. I was helped by reading feedback on this page, and hope this helps others. The treatment was quick and, for me, entirely pain free. Accuvision impressed me hugely. And I am equally appreciative of all those back room people who developed and refined lasers for medical treatment. It is a kind of miracle to see, unaided, after nearly forty years of high prescription lenses

It is estimated that 160 million people have partially impaired vision on this planet. I hope sooner than later the proliferation of this technology and the economics of scale will allow all of them to benefit from this wonderful technology. Life changing! The only annoying aspect is when I am searching for my pair of glasses in the dark after the alarm went off in the morning, only to realize after some time that the reason i cannot find them is i do not need them anymore!!! Thank you for your help!

I would first love to thank Accuvision for giving me a new lease of Life. I chose them because they were the only clinic able to correct my vision, I am -11.5 in both eyes; other clinics were offering me the implantable lens which is something I personally did not want to have. Throughout every stage i was given the best guidance and care by their experienced staff! They were very honest from the start and said that because of my high prescription I may need glasses for some things, and I was totally prepared for this, but it has been a week since I had them done and although still sometimes hazy (this will go over time)they have told me I will not need glasses!! It still feels so surreal to think that I can see for the first time in 22 Years, its truly amazing and I cant thank them enough for changing my life!I have had this whole new world opened up to me! Thank you for putting the sparkle back in my eyes :O)

i went to 4 different clinics for consultations and liked this one the most. THey are very professional and what is most important dont push you to make the decision. the lady that did my consultation was absolutely lovely and brilliant. Staff is very professional and attentive. My initial screening was just about 1 hour to check for suitability - and i passed :D On the day of the surgery - i arrived, to the clinic, and saw two ladies haiving had the treatment done before me and they both were very happy - it's ur eyes that will be changed at the end of the day so u have to be sure if u want to proceed, my prescription was -5.25 and -4.75, and now am perfect! The whole procedure was very quick, NO pain at all. After the surgery i was warned my eyes may get blurry, gritty and watery, but i have not experieced any of it. i felt absolutely no pain afterwards at all. The downside is the eyes feel a littlebit dry when you wake up - like u went to bed in contacts, but the drops i was given are helping and it feels great :D would definitely recommend it, vision is nearly perfect, it may get out of focus sometimes, but eyes are still adjusting, wish i had it done earlier!

I have been wearing glasses since the age of 2 and was a -13 before my eyes were treated, i was starting to become intolerant to contact lenses and was running out of options which meant that i may have had to give up some hobbies. No other clinic would treat me because of my prescription until I found accuvision. It has now been 2 years and I still have excellent vision and no problems, my night vision has improved as a result. The staff are lovely and friendly and always at the end of a phone should you need any advice. I have continued to go to the clinic for my yearly check-up's because the quality of care is so good. Thank-you so much for giving me my sight back. Claire Newman

Accuvision has provided great service and care from the first consultation to the actual surgery to the aftercare process. A very positive experience. I am very pleased with the result and can only recommend it - especially to people with strong prescriptions as i used to have.

I had my eyes treated at the Solihull clinic on 16 January. Before surgery my eyes were -5.25 and -4.50 with some astigmatism in my left eye. I don't know what my eyes were in terms of 6/6 or 20/20 type figures but I couldn't read the largest letter at the top of the eye chart. I'd been wearing glasses for 18 years and occasionally wore soft contact lenses. Chad Rostron did my surgery and I'm very pleased with the results. The procedure itself was very quick (I estimate about one minute per eye) and it was completely painless. You just look at a green light which gradually disappears and then comes back at various points during the procedure. As soon as I sat up I could see MUCH better than I could before and I was quite overwhelmed. I was very anxious on the day and one of my biggest fears was the clamp which holds the eye open. This is nothing like as bad as you imagine - it's not held really wide open like you see in some procedures on the internet. It's more the kind of openness that's required to put a contact lens in. Also, because your eye is anaesthetised you have no desire to blink. It's really not so bad at all. As many people have said on here already the staff at Accuvision are very professional, gentle and knowledgable. I was a big baby on the day and Nick (the rather nice chap who did my initial consultation) held my hand during the procedure. Also, the other staff who were present (I think Vik and another chap) were very reassuring and did their best to reduce my anxiety. Now for the nitty gritty of this procedure: I am now 17 days post-op and I can almost see 20/20. My vision is very likely to improve further over the next couple of weeks but I am delighted with my vision already. I don't need glasses for anything and I don't struggle to see anything. I also have excellent night vision. The downside of all this is that for approximately 21 hours after the procedure I was in dreadful pain. My eyes felt like they were burning and I couldn't open them. About 30 minutes after the surgery the anaesthetic wears off and it's then constant pain until the next morning. The co-codamol doesn't even make a dent in it. The second day is a lot better. There is still discomfort and I couldn't open my eyes for long periods of time, but it's much better. On the third day I went out walking the dog with my Mum and my eyes were fine. I could see very clearly and my eyes were good for most of the day. Day four was great and I went back to the clinic to have the contact lenses removed. This made my eyes gritty and degraded my vision quite a lot. On day five the grittyness had gone but my vision stayed slightly blurry for about a week. The day after tomorrow I'm going for a check-up and I expect good news. I can see very well indeed and I've had no pain, dryness or grittyness since the day the lenses were removed. Overall I would definitely recommend Accuvision both for price and service. The staff are lovely and there is no pressure or harassment like some companies. I enquired with two other laser eye surgery providers in October and I'm still getting e-mails. I also had four phone calls from one place and they wanted to charge me £4,500! If you're going to do this then go to Accuvision - they're great.

Hi had my yes lasered on Jan 9th 2009 with the expectation that i might have to wear glasses after the procedure because i was told my shortsightedness was on the limits of what could be done. I was -9.5 in the right and -8.5 in the left but am now glasses and contact lens-free which is a truly amazing feeling. While my left eye is still a little blurry i hope it will settle over the coming weeks and if it doesn't, i am still at a level where i can function well and am not dependent on glasses. The staff at the clinic in Fulham, west London, were all absolutely brilliant. Each one is very calm and authoritative. I never once felt i was being sold a product and was given all the facts and treatment options then left to make up my mind over the next few months. The surgery itself, while not painful as such, was not a pleasant experience. But, 30 minutes of discomfort to be able to see is certainly worth it in my book! All in all, I can't recommend them enough. Anyone considering having this treatment should at the very least go to see them for their free consultation and see for themselves.

27 Jan 2009

Back in June 2008 I had an appointment at Accuvision in Fulham with the hope of having Wavefront treatment on my eyes. I was very long sighted (approx +6.5 in left eye and +3.5 in right eye). I was very disappointed to be told that I was not a suitable candidate because my corneas were too steep. I was then told that I was potentially suitable for the lens implant. There was no hard sell and all of the risks and implications (such as needing 6 monthly check ups for ever and needing further surgery when I am older to remove my natural lens - I was 35 when I had the operation) and after thinking about it I arranged to see Chad Rostron who would be doing the procedure. All my questions were answered as well as possible so I had my left eye done in July and right eye 3 weeks later in August. I personally found the procedure awful and hated it. If it wasn't for the fact that I wanted to not have to wear glasses or contact lenses I would not have had the 2nd eye done but I did and am glad that I did. I did have some pain in one eye after the procedure and went to see Vik who gave me some extra steroid drops to help the healing. My prescription is now approx -1.5 in my left eye and -0.5 in my right so slight over correction but it is manageable and I have got used to it now and wear glasses occasionally for driving at night for example. I was surprised at how long my brain took to adjust to the different prescription in my eyes but everything has settled now. Overall I am very happy to not be needing contact lenses or glasses all the time! I would like to thank Vik for being wonderfully supportive and reassuring.

27 Jan 2009

I've had my eyes lasered successfully at Accuvision in Solihull on the 16 Jan 09. I was concerned however that i wouldn't be suitable as my short sight prescription was high, -7.50 and -8.25 with astigmatism and I've been wear hard contacts for over 30 years. Thankfully though my very bumpy corneas (looking more like a craggy mountain than a big dome) were rehabilitated on the advice of Nick Dash by wearing soft lenses for a couple of months then awful thick glasses for a week. Then I was ready for the op. All over pretty quickly. Quite an odd and uncomfortable procedure but not especially painful (A bit worse than having a filling at the Dentist). I was in the hands of a very experienced Chad Rostron which put me at ease. Eyes a bit sore for the rest of the day but by the time I came for the next days check up my vision was great and good enough to drive. Even the near vision was improved which was unexpected.
