My consultation with Nick at the clinic in Solihull was excellent. By the end of the hour, I was very clear about the options available to me. There was no pressure at all; I was strongly encouraged to think everything through and to contact the clinic again if I wished to go ahead with surgery.
I chose to have monovision and returned to Solihull 2 weeks later to have the surgery. It wasn't painful but it was quite an intense few minutes as each eye was treated. Within a couple of hours it was all over and I was on my way home again. I didn't experience any significant pain; my eyes felt tired and scratchy and were sensitive to light, but otherwise okay.
I returned the following day to have the contact lense 'bandages' removed. By this time, I could see some improvement already , though my eyes were a bit itchy and vision still quite blurred.
Recovery has been slightly slower in my case. A week on, my vision was better but not as good as I'd hoped (particularly when driving and at night) and my eyes were red and very dry. I panicked a little reading other testimonials, as most people seemed to have 20/20 vision almost immediately.
However, I needn't have worried. I've just come from my 1-week check-up and feel much more confident. I have 20/20 vision now and, although things aren't yet as clear as I'd like, I understand that this is to do with the temporary dryness of my eyes, which is expected to settle down in the coming weeks. I have some different eye drops, which immediately helped, and I'm looking forward to getting even better vision in the weeks ahead.
Hopefully the results of my 1-month check-up will be even better. I'm looking forward to it now!
